31 M Thought I made a real bro but he vanished overnight.

So I was chatting with this Aussie bro here. Similar age, we are from different countries. It started as just normal bro chats: motivating each other, talking about life, and bonding over our shared love for travelling.

He was looking for a travel buddy for a trip at the end of this year, and I thought “Why not?” We seemed to be on the same wavelength and our conversations felt genuine. We exchanged Telegram and Instagram, saw each other’s posts and stories, and I guess that was our way of confirming that neither of us was some bots or scammer.

Then suddenly, today, I realised he deleted his Telegram account and disappeared from Instagram. I went back to Reddit and couldn’t even access his profile anymore. So did he just vanish? Did he block me? I genuinely have no idea what happened.

The strange part is that we were having really good conversations. We talked about all sorts of things, like actual bros do. He even shared ideas of what we could do if I joined his trip later this year. I was transparent with him and said I could only confirm around August because of my work schedule. We even exchanged Telegram video bubbles.

And to be clear, this was purely a friendship thing. Just two bros chatting, nothing sexual, no inappropriate exchanges, no d!ck pic involved.

I’m honestly confused and quite sad. It’s not often that I start conversations with random strangers on Reddit. It just happened that I was doomscrolling, saw someone looking for a travel buddy, and decided to message him. It was nice to feel like I had made a genuine new bro connection.

I guess what hurts most is the lack of a simple goodbye. If the vibe changed, or if he no longer wanted to continue talking, a quick message saying “Hey, I don’t think I want to continue this,” would have been enough, just basic act of kindness.

I’m genuinely disappointed because this was one of the few times I decided to open myself up and try making a new friend.

If you somehow come across this post, I just want you to know that I’m open to hearing from you again. I’d appreciate it if you could at least let me know what happened or why you decided to disappear. No hard feelings, I just value honesty and closure.

Is this just something that happens when you meet people online, or did I do something wrong? Maybe Reddit just isn’t the place to look for genuine bro friendships.

TL;DR: Made a genuine bro connection, moved to Telegram and Instagram, talked about a potential trip together, then he vanished from every platform overnight. I just wish he had said goodbye.
