Cotton Candy Lucky Charms

New Cotton Candy Lucky Charms. Featuring cotton candy dusted oat based crunchies and classic Lucky Charms marshmallows with the addition of 3 new unicorn shapes. Note that these are made with natural flavors and colors (whatever natural cotton candy flavor is supposed to be 😂 ).

They definitely have a cotton candy flavor but it hits hard and fast and then quickly dissipates. The coating doesn't appear to be sugar based so it's missing the sweetness associated with cotton candy. Instead a Lacroix-esque "essence of cotton candy" fades into the lightly sweetened toasty oat flavor of base Lucky Charms crunchies. If you don't get a marshmallow in a bite then you totally miss out on the sugar that's crucial to "cotton candy" in my opinion. Strangely I was sort of tricked into thinking the lingering flavor was grape. Perhaps an optical trick from the crunchies being purple dusted? Or perhaps one of the "natural flavors" is grape? Anyways that got me thinking that cotton candy grapes are a thing you can buy at the grocery store so maybe the flavor of grapes and cotton candy are much more similar than I realized.

Unfortunately these were a miss for me and a step down from OG Lucky Charms. I thoroughly enjoyed the recent Strawberry Lucky Charms so I was excited to try another flavored variety utilizing the original base oat cereal. But something about the cotton candy/grape profile just doesn't mesh well with that base oat cereal in my opinion. This is probably one of those rare times where (can't believe I'm saying this) they should have used the lesser corn based crunchy pieces that they've used in other versions like the Rainbow Sprinkle Lucky Charms. The crispier and sweeter corn would blend better I think.

Red White and Blueberry

Haven't ever actually seen what these look like outside the picture on the box. Here's what they look like for anyone curious!

They're just regular frosted blueberry with red dye in the pastry. So a fun twist on a classic

Edit: Ah sorry they are going by Star Spangled Blueberry this year. I should have read my box 😂

Gabby's Dollhouse Rainbow Rings

Can't say I've ever seen generic store brands doing collabs. But found this on clearance for $0.99 so I took a chance.

Not too bad. I've never had Wild Berry Froot Loops but I imagine they're quite similar to these. Texture/crunchiness is identical to Froot Loops. Initial flavor hits you with the familiar lemony backbone of Froot Loops as well. But more sugary. A little bit of a Crunch Berries-esque "berry flavor" follows it. So I'd say the flavor is about 70% Froot Loops and 30% Crunch Berries. In milk the sharp sugariness comes down and the lemony berry flavor becomes more rounded.

Overall a pretty decent cereal. Especially if you can find it for $0.99 like I did! Usually I snack on dry but this one shines better in milk.

I'm putting these on my "ok to get again list"
