Reporting my rent??

Thinking of ways to boost my credit, still. The option of using Self or some other service for reporting my rent payments to credit bureaus seems good. Long as it's free. Anyone else done this? Thoughts?

To Kik or Not to Kik?

Just trying to get some real opinions on #Kikoff before I commit. I’m in the middle of rebuilding my credit after Chapter 7 and already have a couple of active tradelines (auto loan, student loans, and a starter credit card), and I keep seeing Kikoff advertised as a “credit builder” for like $5/month. From what I understand, it’s not a real credit card or loan you can actually use anywhere, just a small credit account that reports monthly payments to the bureaus. I’ve seen mixed reviews though—some people say it helped a little, others say it barely moved their score or wasn’t worth it. For anyone who’s actually used it long-term, did it make any noticeable difference, or is it just a minor boost that gets overhyped?

Time helps, but is that really it?

Well, it’s been over six months since my Chapter 7 was discharged, and 7/3/26 will mark one year since I filed.

Since then, I have had the following on my credit report:

One credit card through Mission Lane that gets paid off every month 💳
Those pesky student loans (Thank God for IBR) 🙄😭😂
A personal loan through my Credit Union (to be paid off in September)
My car note (Reaffirmed it when I decided to file last year)

My credit score is still in the mid-600 range, which isn’t bad. I would like to see it back in the 700s come December. Any tips for a boost of some sort? I keep seeing ads for Kikoff.

Capital One 😭

So in my Chapter 7 that I filed last year, I burned Discover, Goldman Sachs, Chase, and Upstart.

I was told that Capital One was the best option for rebuilding credit, but every time I’ve applied for even pre-approval, I got denied. I just learned that Capital One and Discover merged (or whatever), so maybe that’s why? 🤔🫠

Update: I did get approved for Mission Lane after trying for Capital One back in late 2025. I was just thrown off by Capital One denying. 😳😳
