Digital Journey

As some of you found useful the « food journey » I share this time the « digital journey » which is also at the second core of solarpunk.

The goal is still to create a roadmap to go to a life system more resilient to global crisis and more heatly for communities.

I keep the same scale as before. I just added a fifth level :

  • Level 1: No reflection, globalized consumption. Very vulnerable.
  • Level 2: Some awareness and attempts to limit consumption, but no reliance on healthy alternative systems.
  • Level 3: Use of alternative systems that could be maintained even in a global crisis (war, extreme heat, etc.).
  • Level 4: I consume what I produce or what my community produces, with backups in place.
  • Level 5 : New systems that broaden the field of possibilities.

I still probably miss a lot of opportunities i don’t even know about, i’m not very competent in this field yet, so feel free to share some other ideas.

I can send the markdown file to whoever want this as a to-do list.

Nice day to all.

Food Journey to solarpunk lifestyle

Hey everyone,

A few days ago, I posted a diagram outlining areas of personal life, with the goal of creating a roadmap toward a lifestyle closer to a real "solarpunk" way of living, and a more resilient life system in the face of crises.

For now, I’ve divided the progression into 4 levels:

  • Level 1: No reflection, typical globalized consumption.

Now, I’ll go into more detail about just one category: "Food", with an attempt to outline what progression could look like. I’ll use the same template for all other categories.

I’d want to make this more like a game. So it's become motivating and fun to track progress.

I think my next step will be to add a timeline, some goals, and quests to create challenges without making it too overwhelming.

I’m open to all other ideas or "quests" we could add to this food journey. For now I'm at the bottom of this list, but I guess it can go much further for people here who already reach the LV4.

Where are you on this scale ? What could be your current challenge or final goal in this area ? Or would you like to try and get into a game like this ?

Have a nice day!

Personnal resilience diagram

I want to build a resilient system around me. Right now, I know I have a very unsustainable lifestyle with just few healthy consumption habits I could rely on if a climate crisis hits my country (France).

I’ve created a first diagram to identify each area of my personal life that I could improve. I divided each area into four levels, ranging from the most vulnerable to the most resilient. The goal isn’t to reach Level 4 in every category, but rather to be conscious of each choice and move in the right direction.

For example, today I buy my food at the supermarket. If globalization faces disruptions, this habit makes me vulnerable, so I’m at Level 1 in that area.

For now, I’ve defined the four levels as follows:

  • Level 1: No reflection, typical globalized consumption.

What do you think? Are there other areas I should consider? Any suggestions to make this tool more useful or precise? I’m open to all feedback.

In the coming weeks, I plan to zoom in on each area to explore what can be done. I could share my progress with you if you’re interested.

Have a nice day!

I'm exhausted, I need a plan.

I've known for a long time that I should build a life that's less dependent on fragile systems and more resilient to climate change. For now, i have a normal urban life in Paris, I have a bullshit job and go to buy my food from a supermarket.

At first, I thought the transition to would happen naturally, and the big challenge is mainly a collective responsibility, so I waited for politics, businesses, and people with influence to lead the way.

These last weeks, I realized I was criticizing collective inaction while using it as an excuse for my own. That was uncomfortable to admit.

Now, I think this subject is too huge and complex to deal with, without a long-term strategy. Because, it's not just a habit, it's a full-life system to redesign, and I'd never treated this as a serious project, with a roadmap, milestones, ways to measure progress. In work, housing, food, transport, skills, relationships, money...

I mean, identifying the obstacles in both personal and professional life and building practical systems to overcome them, one step at a time.

I'm curious whether anyone here has approached a life change like this way. Did treating it like a real project, with objectives, and a plan do the work ? Do you know virtuals communities who are already engaged in this type of journey? Are you interested in going in with me?
