new meta skirt arrived

The skirt I ordered came in. So a quick show-off for you all. Its the Cyber Girl Neon Skirt in Pink from Metamorphose.

I kinda fell in love with the design, so I bought one. Though it might be one of the last full poly skirts, dunno yet. Not the biggest fan of how the polyester feels to the grab. I am much more of a fan of cotton. Even more so when its 130 € (The skirt itself including shipping came out to 110 + 20 € VAT). Oh well. Still love the design.

I am needing some styling advice atleast lol. For what I have in the image already I am rather happy. I love the look with the chunkier boots and the pink laces on them. Even though I might to source them in a different shade of pink to match better lol.

Also tried some different petticoats with it and have quite mixed feelings. The skirts is kinda short on me I think. But the plus-size one would just have been too big sadly.

I tried:

  1. a short puffy-petticoat (actually too short for the skirt and ends before the hem images 1-3
  2. a longer puffy petticoat (which peeks out way too much under it and does not look to great image 4-6)
  3. short less puffy petticoat (maybe something that might work casual but...)

So basically I could either add some lacing to the hem to make it work, just wear the shorter petti even though its too short, get some other shape of petti?

As always it will be a big struggle for me to style the top part aswell lol.

A nice (mostly) selfmade Lolita-Outfit

I kinda forgot to share the project I finished recently (like a month ago). Really exited to get to wear this one out soon to dokomi. So hyped and the end product really made it worth the effort. I look so great in the outfit. The whole idea for the general Outfit is from a japanese Sewing Book called "Otome no Sewing No. 18" (by botique-sha: https://www.boutique-sha.co.jp/31734/ )

I did talk about this Outfit/Idea in this post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/sewing/comments/1n5fknc/help_understanding_construction_of_the_skirt/

Its not entierly self-made but the main pieces I made myself. Let me give a run down of all of it:

Skirt:

The Skirt was made with the pattern that was included in the magazine. The construction itself is fairly simple. Its a 3-tiered skirt underneath in a simple white cotton and all these different panels ontop. I decided to do 3-tiers of panels for the skirt, they are attached with a straight stitch all around (Top to Botttom):

  • different panels in red, black and white. They were made with slash cutting. 4 layers in total sewn togteher with diagonal straight stitches, the slash cut and wash. For some accessory I added some eyelets and some nice chains.
  • second-tier is alternating between a red/black houndstooth-pattern and some black/red tartan.
  • The third and last tier consist a red fabric with brown (sometimes also yellow and blue) foxes and a black fabric with white hearts and the red bollenhut on it.

I really love how it turned out. Could have used some more panels as you can see depending on how the panels fall you can see the white fabric underneath.

The layer at the bottom makes me really happy in general. The fabric with the foxes is a genuine japanese fabric, so that pays a little homage the fact Lolita is a japanese fashion. The bollenhut is a famous hat from the region I live in. And both of them being black/red. It was a fit for sure.

I did take some shortcuts while making adjustments to the skirt. The pattern was made for someone with a very much slimmer waist then me (and for a women lol). Atleast the tiers had enough circumfence so I could just use a larger waistband. This did alter the geometry of the skirt but I like how it turned out.

To add some volume I do have a (bought) petticoat underneath. I will need to align it a little better for the real outing.

Jacket/Bolero:

I did not make the Jacket from the magazine for what you see above. I just did not want to deal with having to resize and rework the pattern for that jacket in the magazine. Thats maybe something I can think about at another time. But tbh what I have right now I already like.

I came across a lovely video by House of Kimono that had a nice pattern and was easy to make. I used this pattern here: Kimono Jacket by House of Kimono

It was a very easy pattern, with a nice video to it making it very easy to make. I might should have made it a little wider but I like it very much as well. To close it I used hooks and eyes.

After making it in white only I decided to add the black pieces and some lace to it.

Headdress:

This one is easy and short. I did not make this one myself. They are handmade by another Lolita though. Its really nice.

Bag:

The bag I found in House of Kimonos Shop as well. I just really liked the idea to add some more japanese to it. This one is Japanese Knot Bag by House of Kimono.

This one was really a usage of "scraps" to make something with them. Turns out I made waaaay to many of the panels for the skirt leftover lol. I found the pattern for the bag by chance and it was a nice project. So I basically quilted together a few of the panels in a "checkerboard" pattern. Alternating the panels to make a new "fabric" cut out the pattern and sewn that together.

On a whim I bought a fabric with that cute miffy print on the front. Its a fabric sold as a panel. I think usually it should be used for making a shirt being a stretchy jersey.

I cut out the print in a circle and used the rest for the inside of the bag. The pockets inside I could have made better but oh well they work.

I like the bag and it will be great to have on the con with this whole outfit.

Boots:

Obvs. I can't make boots myself so these are also bought but really complete the look. These are Demonia CAMEL-300.

Thankies

I also got some help from u/Queasy_Soft9673 and u/JustPlainKateM who helped me out with figuring out some stuff on how to make this a reality and understand the pattern better.

Just something casual for work

I hope this is "lolita" enough even though its really just a skirt from innocent World and the rest is just normal-ish stuff. I felt very comfy in it and the skirt really pops.

The fit itself is fairly easy:

- turtle-neck knitted sweater
- long-sleeve basic black shirt underneath
- Innocent World Royal Library Skirt
- Some headband (I think also from Innocent? I got it with the skirt)
- some fleece-lined tights and some brown socks that not really show on the photos
- KOI Footwear Gin Platform boots with yellow laces.

Felt great wearing it the whole day even though the wetter was very mixed. Though I did change into flat chucks for the (half) workday sitting down. Even these rather modestly high boots (like 7cm but 3cm platform) make me too tall for my office chair...

I did wear the boots for the little party we had going on in the office that day. Was very fun.

I usually avoid mirror selfies especially since mine is not seamless but it was a quick shoot before leaving the house.

Also yeah I did realize I had the headband the wrong way around. But I also kinda disliked it since it would fall down my head so easy.

I am usually not too big on accessories so you might consider a bit too plain to count for lolita I dunno. Hope you still like it.
