Why do some women agree to a first date they have no intention on actually attending? What are some good signs that they are going to do this?

I’ve been pretty active on hinge the past month and I have run into this same frustrating issue multiple times. I’m 35M and live in a big city and all of these women are 28-35 and professionals so I can’t chalk it up to immaturity.

I’m not sure why these women don’t just ghost me when being asked out. Or even saying they’re busy without offering an alternative day is enough for me to drop it.

Instead I have women agreeing to a date or giving days they’re free, and then ghosting the day of the date or dragging out the logistics until it’s obvious she’s has no intention of actually showing up.

The worst is I’ve had multiple women offer their phone numbers unsolicited only to pull the same runaround when moving to text.

I never double text, I’m not rude, I honestly don’t understand this behavior. Obviously I’m venting a bit right now, but I’ve had it happen twice in a week and it’s such a pain in the ass.

I have other matches I could’ve been pursuing more actively or making plans with, but instead I’m filling up my calendar with imaginary dates instead 😭

Does anyone have a good way of filtering out people who do this?

[Sun Care] Is "Windburn" real?

I was on a friend's boat all day this past Saturday during high winds (>15 kts). I was applying SPF50 PA++++ every few hours but when I got home that evening my face was bright red, hot, and irritated. Fearing that I got sunburn I did some googling and settled on the opinion that I got "windburn" instead. I had been out on the water with similar sun exposure before and never had this reaction, the only difference was I hadn't been out when it was this windy. Later that night and after a shower, my face seemed to returned to normal and by the next morning there was no noticeable redness/irritation.

This all seemed to point to "windburn", however I was shocked to find out that many sources, including wikipedia, straight up say "windburn" is a myth and is simply a mistaken case of sunburn.

Anyone have thoughts on this? I definitely feel like windburn is real and that's what I experienced. However, some sources say that the wind can just destroy the effectiveness of sunblock and allow for sunburn. Maybe I'm coping because I like boating, but I definitely didn't feel any burn or resulting tan afterwards...
