Sizing transfer switch for off grid home

Planning on using a 15 amp automatic transfer switch for 120v supply to my off grid home's 100 amp panel with 15 amp breakers.

Sources are:

- Honda 2200i generator (15amps running, 18amp surge)

- Bluetti 2000w battery gen/inverter (20amp max)

Two questions:

  1. I think I understand that the transfer switch (and other 15amp components) will be protected from over amping by the 15amp breakers in my panel. Is that correct?

  2. Any reason I should NOT put a receptacle between the generator and transfer switch to supply the battery charger?

Do I still need straps to replace collar ties when using these Simpson Ridge-Rafter Connectors?

Building a 10x20 dinky house with cathedral ceiling and skipping collar ties to maximize headspace. Roof is 5:12 with 2x6 rafters at 16o.c. Snowload: yes (AK). Wind: yes (AK).

I used these Simpson RR ridge- rafter connectors. Do I still need a strap over the top to replace collar ties?

Cost is minimal in time and money, and I may add just for peace of mind, but curious is the connectors would do the job sufficiently.

Thanks

(The rafters are set tight against the connectors/ridge board; the connectors make it look like there is a gap. Expansion held by rafter ties and loft.)
