Tree species selection.

I have an area on the south side of my house that I would like to plant 2-3 trees primarily for summer shade on the house. The area is 25 feet long and 15 feet wide. The idea is to plant 2-3 trees just inside the property line and have them grow fairly quickly up to about 15-25 feet tall while spreading minimally. These would likely be temporary trees that will be moved in about five years. In three to five years I plan to have a pergola built to train a couple of table grapes on to provide the shade and eating grapes. Ultimately, this will become a large patio area under a sea of grape vines. Once the grapes are established I would relocate the trees to my western property line to replace some Hawthorne's that have reached the end of their life.

I'm in WA state, zone 6. Hot dry summers, cold wet winters with spring and fall all over the map. I would prefer deciduous trees that make minimal mess in terms of fruit. I do not mind pruning the trees yearly if needed. I intend to visit a few nursery's in my area to see what they suggest as well.

Issue with the palm side of my hands/fingers.

This may sound odd but recently I've started having what seems like dry skin on my hands but it isn't dry skin AFAIK. The palms of my hands and especially my fingers feel extremely smooth and soft. It's almost as if my fingerprints have disappeared. They are still there but seem greatly reduced. Using a magnifying glass I can see skin oil coming out of the millions of pores on my fingers and the skin does not look dry but it feels very dry. The issue is so bad that it's affecting my fine manual dexterity. I can barely turn the page of a book or handle paper at all without difficulty. I'm constantly dropping things or am unable to pick up small items like screws or washers. I don't typically suffer from dry skin even in winter.

I do strongly suspect the issue is Dawn dish soap. Specifically the Dawn with the new scent. The 'New' scent is actually several years old I believe but I tend to stock up on non-perishable items like dish soap so by the time I start using 'Newer' varieties, they have been on the market for years. Recently I used the last of the old stock I had and started using the 'New' scent which actually smells horrible. Anyway, I think this newer variety of Dawn is the culprit.

FWIW, I typically used a Jamaican Castile soap to wash my hands or I use Marseille soap from France. For showering I always use Aleppo soap from Syria.

I'm curious if anyone has a similar issue with Dawn Dish soap? I've been using it for years with no issue until I started using the newest scent. I'm going to stop using it entirely to see if my hands return to normal.

Vintage copper house/mailbox numbers repair wanted.

Hello, I'm remodeling my house built in 1954. Today they removed the 3" tall house numbers from beside the front door. What I had always assumed were black painted aluminum turns out to be solid copper. They are painted black and a bit bent up and dinged. I'd like to have them straightened out/polished up a bit to look like new and reinstall them on the house.

There are no hard or deep creases, just lots dents. I can mail them in a small padded envelope. I can strip the paint off and take another photo. Please DM or reply here if you can gently breathe new life into these digits!

LCS bid report.

It was another good day to sell a bit. Stopped in at two local coin shops. Both were spot -3 on Eagles. On 100 oz bars one was spot -5 and the other was -6.

Overheard part of a conversation when a customer asked about junk prices. Dealer was paying $18 on 90% halves, $9 on quarters and $3.80 on dimes. I haven't checked on that but in my head I'm not sure it maths. I'm not sure I heard it clearly though. Same dealer said that refineries are backing up again and taking longer to pay.

My favorite LCS bought the two 100oz bars I sold with check post dated ten days. I asked why and he said he's waiting on a $500,000 check from a refiner to come in. The other dealer is buying 100oz bars with a check post dated ten days also. This is in the Pacific Northwest.
