Copper Vent Hood

Hey folks!

We just removed this copper vent hood while redoing our kitchen. I don’t have a use for the hood and would like to move it on instead of scrapping it. I believe it’s from the 50’s-60’s when the kitchen was last updated. What sort of value does this have?

Cleaning Help

This is a sink that has a lot of patina (it was bought this way). I have 2 issues, how do I clean it without the patina coming off and how can I make the patina come back?

I have been sitting on this photo for a few days now but I really wanted to share this one here. It is a teardrop labradorite named Oracle’s Glance because of the way the blue and green flash catches the light.

It takes a lot of patience at the bench to get these intricate copper wraps right. It has a lovely weight to it at 49g and the way the beads and swirls frame the stone is just brilliant to see in person. I am really happy with how it turned out.

I do have a shop but I'm not prepared to share it unless anyone is interested.

First ever copper bars

I know it's an odd weight, that's just what it came out as after shining it up. I also know that my etch is crooked, like the post says its my first ever copper bar I made out of a couple of old motors that had seized up and left over wire from when I did my garage. I've got room for improvement, but I think it's class.

Made more copper ingots this weekend!

I had a lot of time to work on my copper this weekend. I managed to melt and pour about 20 pounds wort of new ingots, a few different sizes this time. I think I have a good system for pouring the copper now, and a more level surface. They are coming out more even. After cleaning them up, I put the laser to work around the clock! The bigger ones took about 20 hours each to engrave and the smaller ones about 10 hours. My phone's camera is really crappy, they look much better in person. One of these days I'll get a new one. What do you all think of these ones?

Help I'm addicted! Can you help me think if a name for this?

The labradorite is stunning and I caught the light just right in this picture in my garden. I just think it looks a bit messy but it kinda reminds me of Medusa. Actually, I might just call it Medusa Reflection. What do you think?

I recently bought some amazing beads, so I made some simple earrings. What do you think?

Finished a copper folding class

Spent some time refining a copper folded style bracelets I learned to make with .025mm 24 gauge copper sheet.

Experimented with finishes, die punching, flame burnishing, hammered texture with various tips, and antiquing with liver of sulfur.

I want to go back with a scrubber and smooth the edges and tops on some of these now that I see them under the photo flash.

I love the penny or unfinished look so much but I'd like to experiment with polishing them with beeswax.

I'm happily addicted and gathering my own materials and tools now that the class has ended!

Large sun

Made this sun for a friend. It started out as a half inch copper tubing piece. I figured out the rest as i went. Adding more layers of the tubing, flat stock and quarter inch tubing . It was quite the project. I did a lot of sitting back and staring at it figuring out what to do next. It ended up weighing about 30 lbs.

One of the three sizes of copper spinning hearts i make.

This is one of the copper sculptures I have been inspired to create. This one is eight inches tall so pretty big, I love how it catches even the lightest wind to start turning and glittering.
