Happy Independence day!

Happy 250 to everyone, and especially all those hard working folks in Bradford P.A.

In one form or another, yall have kept my pants pockets heavy for the last 38 years.

My ol' man threw a Case Pen knife, and a Zippo in my pocket when I went camping at 10 years old, and there has been a Case and a Zippo with me every day since.

God Bless America........I know I friggin' love it!

Have a great and safe day everyone.

Happy 250th

Today....We celebrate Independence day!

My 4th of July lineup starts out with the Don Carlos personal reserve, for breakfast. Twangy and spicy and so much citrus. What a delicious smoke.

I hope everyone has a great day, and some great smokes!

A special thank you to the hard working folks in Bradford P.A. that have kept both my pants pockets heavy for the last 38 years!

Have a safe and wonderful day everyone!

Packing for vacation.

Busted out the bigger travel-dor to get packed for vacation tomorrow.

A tray of favorite morning smokes

A tray of favorite evening smokes

A tray of tasty smokes to give out to the others

My wife will have her usual tin of groovy blues.

I'll be there soon, U.P. and hoping for good smoking weather!

Have a great holiday weekend folks!

Melanie Maduro with a new V haul.

Having a delicious Melanio maduro while putting away a new V haul.

Found lots of my favorite vitolas. Lanceros, No4, Torpedoes, perfecto. Also a handful of each Melanio.

The V serie is a damn good smoke. Carry on.

Inspirado Palladium ...interesting smoke.

This morning I pulled out a Macanudo Inspirado Paladium, from the few that I have left.

These are a very interesting cigar to me.

It's sort of a double Connecticut with San Andres filler, that has been Tercio aged.

For a Connecticut it is incredibly tasty with a long finish of citrus, twang, nuts, and spice.

It is definitely more Medium strength, no doubt because of the Mexican filler.

Surprisingly complex with tasting notes that keep changing throughout.

These are constructed well, burn and draw perfectly, and have never given issue.

Time for me to find another box. They were a limited release, but plenty are still out there.

If you haven't tried them, they are a step above the normal Inspirado line, and I actually like the normal Inspirado line, especially green.

Have a great Sunday y'all.

A couple morning smokes...

A beautiful quiet morning with free time, so a couple morning smokes to start the day.

Southern Draw Rose of Sharon. Toro.

Classic Connecticut notes with a bit of strength in the filler. Hay, grasses, sweetness, white woods. Wonderful medium, no bitterness.

An EXCELLENT morning smoke.

Construction, draw, and combustion were all flawless. Been sitting at 68* 66% for probably 6mos.

Davidoff Puro Dominicano. Short robusto.

Slightly interesting, but only slightly.

Signature Dominican notes.

A tiny bit of red pepper. Some Cedar.

Wonky burn, over filled, over humidified, muted flavors, but to be completely fair I just got a box of these 2 days ago, locally. They were in a walk-in that is set to 70%+.

Will obviously revisit and make a judgement at a later time.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Mr Valladares...

Makes wondeful cigars, doncha' know.

Breakfast on the deck with an Oscar Valladares "Leaf" maduro, and some Brazilian Crema Arabica.

A wonderfully delicate maduro. Sweet woods, cinnamon, cocoa. Almost light enough to be overshadowed by the coffee, but holds it own with excellent tasting notes in each puff.

The "Leaf" Corojo is my favorite of the line, but this is very enjoyable.

Anybody else dig the "Leaf" by Oscar?

Hope everyone has an outstanding Friday!

After dinner Papas Fritas....

H99 Papas Fritas to be exact.

I know loads of people love Liga for their Broadleaf, but for me its their Corojo.

H99 is my favorite Liga, so as one would assume, H99 Fritas is my favorite Fritas.

There is nothing in the $6-7 field that competes.

These are better than half the cigars in the $10-$15 category.

That is all, have a nice night

B.S.L. Mr. Fahrenheit

Pulled out a Black Star Line cigar for my morning smoke today, a Mr. Fahrenheit in the corona gorda vitola.

A wonderfully tasty and extra danky Connecticut broadleaf.

Cold draw is so delicious, you just wanna chew on it.

Fairly traditional broadleaf, and puts you in mind of Liga9, Tabernacle, Nica Rustica.

Heavy notes of Cocoa, sweet earth/wood, danky barnyard.

On the heavier side of Medium/Full. A bit more than I'd normally go for in the morning.

Thick, dense, smoke. Beautiful construction and burn.

Never had a bad smoke from BSL and that continues.

Enjoy your Sunday, friends.

Fun little Melon tester..

Yesterday, I stumbled across a neat little Colonial melon tester at an antiques shop. It's neato, so I thought I'd post it up for the ol' slip joint crowd.

If you're as old as me, you remember these. I've collected a few over the years, but this one is in new condition and from what I can research online, the original box.

I love the banana branding also. These Dole branded Colonials are from the 70's

Pretty fun.

Have a great Memorial Day.

Breakfast with Black Star Line

This morning I chose a Black Star Line, Dark War Witch to have with my coffee.

An absolute beauty, in a pig perfecto. Perfect construction and draw. Rolled by Aganorsa they say.

Delicious Corojo wrapper and Nicaraguan filler.

On the stronger side of medium, and a bit stronger than I usually pick for a morning smoke.

Burn was outstanding!

Black Star Line has a nice small offering of boutique smokes, and every one I've had has been great. Try them if you haven't.

Anybody else like the War Witch?

Stuck inside today, due to winter somehow returning to N.E. Ohio.

This Muskrat with pretty covers is keeping me company and poppin' cigar caps.

I don't mess with Muskrat patterns too much, but I thought the covers and jig pattern on this one were real sexy, so I snagged it.

Scalped this Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 S.G. without issue..lol

Hopefully the weather is better where you are.

Enjoy your weekend friends.

Weather is terrible, so I sat down this morning with an Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 S.G.

It was truly a beautiful and delicious smoke.

The sun grown wrapper was brimming with oil. By the second third, a pool of glistening oil was slowly pushed up the cigar, ahead of the cherry.

The tasting notes really surprised me, as it wasn't only the tell tale flavors of a strong Dominican, but an immense flavor of citrus. Normally, I find citrus notes like this are reserved for Cuban and Honduran tobacco, but this was so intense you'd swear it was infused.

Anyway, an absolutely incredible smoke. If you don't have these in the cabinet, you might want to seek some out.

Enjoy your weekend friends.

My local guy finally got in some new releases today and I came home with a small grab, of some new, and new to me smokes.

While I put them away to rest, I'm smoking on a delicious Maduro from Casa Carillo. It's tough work smoking a perfectly rolled, earthy, chocolate bar, but I'm up for the task.

Score:

A.J. Decenio

Crux Marblehead.

Crux Bull and Bear

Crux Passport

D.E. Undercrown El Tigre Dominicano

The Crux all have gorgeous toothy wrappers, and rolled by Plasencia. I can't wait to try the Marblehead vitola.

If you've had these already, what did you think?
