Scored this bad boy on fb market for $130. Thought it was a steal, it’s gonna look great in the work van all summer! Had to slap some stickers I had laying around on it.

Lately I’ve been getting sent on large service jobs consisting of HVAC assessments for potential maintenance customers. I noticed their previous contractors maintenance was rather lackluster. The job I was on today was misquoted, 8hrs to thoroughly assess 13 15T RTU’s (10 voyagers). Scope of work included Checking heat exchangers, locating all thermostats and verifying ops (massive furniture store) and identifying any worn parts on the heating and AC systems. Now typically I’d gauge up and check sh/sc, check economizer info, but obviously couldnt be as thorough as I’d like based off the misquote. Point being, finding a lot of issues and sometimes these days make my head spin. How the hell do you guys stay organized? I’ve been in the field for 5 years now and I believe the best system I can come up with is using the notes app in my phone, typing my notes as I go through each unit to record data, and then I’ll copy and paste into my visit summary on buildops. I find it easier than writing stuff down as I go, the apprentice I train found out the hard way you’ll never remember what part went for which unit, etc. Is there an app you guys use that help you stay organized? Everywhere else I worked we would typically have 2 guys on something like this. I got 9 units done today, going back tomorrow for 5 hrs to do 4 more. I’m half tempted to buy an Ipad and magic keyboard in hopes that it’ll somehow make my life easier. I’ll probably use it for school too instead of the junk laptop the school gave me. any tips would be great! pics are for funsies. Bunch of busted motors, burnt contactors, blown fuses to VFD’s, bad hsi’s etc. Makes my head hurt thinking about it all.
