30K Service — What Did They Actually Do?
What exactly is included in these labour/service charges, and what could have been avoided?
I recently got my Fortuner’s 30,000 km service done and the bill was ₹18,054.25 + 18% GST = ₹21,304.
I’m trying to understand what the service centre actually did for each charge, and which items are genuinely required at 30,000 km versus optional/add-on work.
Labour / service charges
- 30,000 km service – INSP: ₹4,370
- Wheel cylinder – Other: ₹1,284
- Propeller shaft cross greasing: charged under the above/other labour
Parts
- Diesel injector: ₹1,410
- Engine flush: ₹1,403
- Windshield washer: ₹84
- Air cleaner element: ₹1,767
- Gasket: ₹52
- Oil filter: ₹425
- AdBlue: ₹1,236
Engine oil
- TGMO Premium Diesel 0W-20, 5L: ₹6,023.25
Total before GST: ₹18,054.25
Total after 18% GST: ₹21,304
My main questions are:
What does ₹4,370 for the 30,000 km inspection/service actually cover? What work do they physically perform?
What is the ₹1,284 wheel-cylinder charge for? Is this labour for inspection/cleaning/adjustment, or something else?
What exactly is done during propeller shaft cross greasing? Is this a standard 30,000 km requirement?
Are diesel injector treatment, engine flush and windshield washer actually necessary, or are these typically dealer-recommended add-ons?
Is the air cleaner element normally due at 30,000 km?
Are there any other items here that I could reasonably have declined without affecting the scheduled service/warranty?
For Fortuner owners who have had the same service done, what did your 30,000 km service cost and what items were actually performed?
I’m not necessarily questioning the total amount—I just want to understand what I actually paid for, especially the labour charges, and which items were mandatory versus optional.
