"Boys are woefully unprepared for a winter of hate, staying in and concealing hate" - Mike Hate

If the multiverse theory is true and there are an infinite number of universes, there must be one where Mike Hate is the lead singer for the Crust Punk band Inland Girls. Scary stuff.

No, Mike! Don't admit to "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" that you're a ladies man! You could get life in prison confessing to something like that.

"Doing unto others is the golden rule, but doing it with you would be so very cool" : Could you chill out!?

[B 1.7.3] Passive Mob Farm, in the desert?

I've got a desert I've ruined with my sand harvesting, I felt like doing something with this area so I thought a passive mob farm would make sense. The idea being they spawn on grass and this area has most of the grass already eliminated. Obviously I've got a lot more to do but I wanted to see if I could get some advice first on improving the farm.

Can all passive mobs spawn in the desert if grass is present? I can't find answers from this version. I've only seen chickens so far, it was one when I was getting all the grass set up. Then 4 chickens spawned when I built a staircase away like in the screenshot, but I haven't seen much else. So about 5 chickens in my 2 hours attempting to use the farm.

Is the shape an issue? Rows? The only thing I can find about passive mob spawning is you need grass and 2 blocks of air above.

Before I commit to this any further: If I delete all grass within a 124 block radius, will this farm work?

Edit: To give it some scale, the platform on the ground is 64 blocks wide and the grass blocks are 26 blocks from the platform.

I just found out these big fat phonies weren't even surfers! I refuse to support false Surf Rock!

"Let's go surfin' now, everybody's learnin' how" Everyone but us of course. From here on out, it's Pacific Ocean Blue only for me.

Should this mob farm work?

I built a Mob Farm in my "creative" world (B 1.7.3 with too many items) before building it on a server and I'm glad I did not only to work out the design but it seems like it doesn't produce anything. I didn't show it in the video but mode is set to Hard.

So the video shows the redstone first, a lever to activate the circuit and a button to give it a pulse. It's an expensive circuit with all the sticky pistons but it's essentially unbreakable which is an issue on servers.

The circuit activates 4 monostable circuits changing the status from off to on every 20 seconds.

Then I fly up to the spawn chambers, mostly to show that they are completely dark inside.

The rates are awful, I can go through a day without getting a mob. I'm keeping it set to daytime to avoid mobs on the surface.

Is there just a massive cave somewhere stopping spawning in the chambers? Or is 20 seconds not long enough for mobs to spawn? Or is it something else entirely I've never built a mob farm in this version that didn't have a spawner.

Broken Piglin Batering (Pigs just hold the gold)

Are Piglins nerfed in some way on this server? I've seen videos of automatic trading halls on Donut SMP and gave it a shot myself. Here's how it went:

I found a group of Piglins to trade with, for some reason it would take them about 1-3 minutes to complete a trade. Slow, but it worked. So I loaded them all into auto traders.

The farm worked fine, slowly but now the pigs won't finalize the trade. I've got 8 Piglins holding bars of gold, locked into holding a bar of gold and staring at it for about a half hour in game time. I can break them from the trance by smacking them, it cancels the trade, I lose the gold, the pig picks up another bar and the process repeats itself.

I can't find anything about this specific issue anywhere. Does the server now prevent these types of farms?

[Question] New to anarchy servers, was I griefed legit? (Spawner found)

I had a cactus farm built within an end island to afk make green dye overnight. I also had my first skeleton spawner so I hid that in the walls of my farm but close enough to be active. I go to bed, I wake up blown up and my base is mostly fine but my spawner is gone.

I've since learned about Piedar and how you can detect if there is a spawner within the area. Placing a spawner in the end where there are no natural spawners was a big mistake I learned that. But isn't that is, there's a spawner/entity "in the area" rather than "at this block location?"

The reason I ask is the griefer clearly knew exactly where the spawner was. The walls around the spawner weren't destroyed, they dug straight down from the top of the farm direct to the spawner. There was no question they knew it's exact location.

Is there a vanilla way to find the exact location of a spawner or was it hacks? Trying to learn more before I get any more spawners to lose (I won't leave them out overnight I know that)
