Rotary encoder with on/off function, what is the actual name for this component?

So, I would like to control an LED strips brightness and also fully turn off the strip with a single rotary knob, so what is the actual name for a rotating knob with a switch function when the knob points to zero/left side?

Is there a formula or some process to create a simple and accurate Potentiometer indicator LED ring?

I am wondering if there is some formula or process to follow to make a 5 stage LED indicator for a Potentiometer shown in the linked video.

In the video mentioned, all resistors are 1K, this creates a very rough transition as the resistance from the Potentiometer climbs and leads to the physical position of the Pot not matching the correct number LED being lit up. To fix this I have played around with decreasing resistance values for LEDs further away from the Pot, this does improve the issue.

I have attached an image of the circuit I have made, but just want to check is there is some obvious formula to help me figure out the correct resistor values to use.

Any input is appreciated.

BTW the input voltage for the circuit is 12v.

Post México Match - Thoughts

After watching the match last night, I noticed a few differences between the first and second México matches:

- Both matches started well, but last night it seemed like the Matilda's intensity didn't fade off as much as the first game.

- In the second half, the attack stayed flexible and exciting, compared to the first game where it looked as though the attack ran into a wall and couldn't figure out a way around.

- The newer (lower capped) players seemed to bring a different approach, making different decisions which I think helped the veterans be more effective with the ball.

I am curious if anyone else noticed differences, positive or negative, between the two México matches?

Recommended Ring Bearing type for lowest run-out, highest precision for use in a PCB Mill Spindle

I am building a DIY PCB Mill with a RS-895 DC motor as the spindle.

However the bearing that come with the motor produce too much run-out.

So what type of bearing would provide the lowest run-out, highest precision for use in my PCB mill.

I have done a quick search and AC (Angular Contact) bearings were mentioned, is that the correct answer or is there another type.

Image is a picture of the motor used:

Need tips on DIY PCB Milling

I have built a small PCB Mill to speed up the creation of prototypes for designs and/or revisions.

What I'd like to know is:

  1. What type of bit is most suited for milling 0.2mm pads, is it an endmill?

  2. Since I am using Autoleveling (probing in a Z axis grid to account for PCB warping), how much space between probe points should i be using?

Thank you for any input.
