We are mostly using wildflowers from my parent’s property (free!) but we would love to specifically use California poppies since my fiancé is from California. They’re not available where we’re getting married, so we were thinking about trying to grow some indoors—but that’s a lot of work and I think we’re scrapping that idea. Instead, I think we’d be happy to use fake flowers—but we’d obviously like them to not stick out! Anyone have experience mixing faux and real flowers? Or advice for finding good faux flowers? Since it would only be a handful to incorporate, we can splurge a tiny bit if there’s an obvious reason to. I’m not really a flowers person so I know NOTHING about fake flowers—except that they often look terrible.
Anyone MAKE their own fake flowers? I know there’s a lot of methods—I would never consider making all our florals, but again I could easily get away with like 1 per table and a couple for their boutonnière, which is definitely a manageable amount.
Bizarrely specific question, but has anyone had success finding any florists with California poppies? We’re mostly planning to do florals ourselves, but would love to source some California poppies (my fiancé is from California and they look super cute with my red clovers from VT!) to incorporate. Vermont would be ideal, but we will have guests traveling from all across New England and are not above asking someone else to pick them up for us!
My family has often made a habit of drinking chilled and filtered sap, and it’s always surprised me that I haven’t seen anyone capitalizing off this idea. Especially with flavored seltzers, spindrift, and other “healthy” sodas being all the rage, carbonated maple sap seems like such a logical all-natural gentle soda idea. Does anyone know of anyone who makes such a thing? At the very least, I definitely recommend it to all of you! Maybe boil it for a couple minutes first to kill any potential bacteria and concentrate it just that little bit extra (it’s not *quite* sweet enough to someone like me who would gladly drink pure syrup!).
