Best way to sell W124?

I am ready to let go of my 1991 300E that has been a fun project car for the last several years. It is not in great shape, so I am not trying to get big money for it. What is the best way to find buyers who can appreciate what it is?

I am not trying to sell it here; I am only looking for tips on where to advertise it for sale. Also, what is a good way to determine its value?

Mistery event

I get this event every week, but I am not physically doing anything with the cables. Does anyone know why this triggers?

Powerwall 3, Cybertruck question

At my house, we have underground power lines, but our street is fed by a neighborhood with above-ground lines and old trees. We get 2-3 power outages per year, most of which last 30 minutes or less. But occasionally, we get longer ones. Last week, during a clear sunny day, we lost power for 4.5 hours due to a fallen tree somewhere down the line. And very rarely, during an ice storm, we can lose power for 7 days or so. That has happened twice in the last 20 years.

Is it possible to combine a Powerwall 3 and a Cybertruck to provide long-term home backup? I understand that the PW3 would cover the immediate outage and the CT would then take over within a minute. My real question is, could I take the CT to work and allow the PW3 to back up the house? Could I then return with a charged-up CT and recharge the PW3?

I do not have solar, and in my area, solar would have a very long payback time, so going without solar would be better for now.

New Model Y vs. low-mileage 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring: what am I overlooking?

I am posting this in both the Tesla and Lucid subreddits because I know each group will naturally have its own biases. I am hoping that hearing both perspectives will help me identify things I may not have considered.

I’m trying to decide between buying a new Tesla Model Y and a low-mileage 2022 Lucid Air Grand Touring. I realize these are very different vehicles, but they appeal to me for different reasons and would be in roughly the same general price range.

The Model Y would be new, more practical, easier to get serviced, and would have a full warranty. I’ve driven one and really liked FSD. In fact, FSD is the biggest reason Tesla is still being considered. If I buy the Model Y, I would subscribe to it for $99 per month. The Model Y also has more cargo flexibility and would likely be the simpler, lower-stress vehicle to own.

The Lucid would be a much more luxurious and enjoyable car. The ride, quietness, performance, range, interior, and overall driving experience all seem to be on another level. The one I’m considering has DreamDrive Pro, Surreal Sound Pro, the glass roof, and the 21-inch wheels. I also have a Lucid service center about an hour away, so I would not be completely on my own for service.

I know the 21-inch wheels will reduce efficiency, shorten tire life, and probably affect ride quality compared with the 19-inch wheels. However, since this is the Grand Touring with the larger battery, it would still have plenty of range for my needs and should largely make up for the range lost to the larger wheels.

The obvious concerns with the Lucid are that it would already be about four years old, the basic warranty would be getting closer to its end, repairs outside of warranty could be expensive, and Lucid’s long-term future and parts availability feel less certain than Tesla’s.

Insurance on the Lucid would cost me about $100 more per month than the Model Y. On the other hand, I would be paying $99 per month for FSD with the Tesla, so the monthly cost difference between the two is nearly a wash.

I drive around 10,000 miles per year and can charge at home. Most of my driving is local, but I occasionally make longer trips. I value comfort, a quiet ride, good driver-assistance features, quality software, ease of use, and low-stress ownership. I tend to keep vehicles for a long time, so I am thinking beyond just the first couple of years.

For anyone who has owned one or seriously considered both, what factors am I missing? Are there any ownership annoyances, costs, service issues, software frustrations, or everyday usability differences that might not be obvious during a test drive?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have lived with either vehicle for a while, not just which one is faster or has better specs.

Extended warranty 3 years later

My son purchased his 2023 Kona 2 years and 11 months ago. At the time, he was offered the extended warranty for $2,300, and he passed. They then offered it to him for $1,800, and he passed again. I wished he had gotten it, but what is done is done.

Is it possible to get it now? The car has 58,200 miles on it, so it is about to go out of warranty. What are his options?

Looking for a reliable projector recommendation for portable presentations/events

I currently use an Epson Home Cinema 1040 (model H722A) that is about 10 years old. It has served me well, but I'm starting to think about redundancy and future reliability.

My use case is somewhat different from home theater:

  • Portable setup that travels to multiple venues
  • Audience typically 25–75 people
  • Used for video presentations and spoken-word content
  • Venues include banquet halls, church sanctuaries, community halls, and occasionally school gymnasiums
  • Projecting onto a portable screen
  • Laptop source via HDMI
  • Reliability is more important than home theater image quality
  • Ease of setup is important
  • Budget is ideally $350 or less
  • I'm perfectly comfortable buying used equipment

I'm considering two options:

  1. Buy a second Epson Home Cinema 1040 as a backup since I'm already familiar with it and can find used units fairly inexpensively.
  2. Purchase a newer projector as the primary unit and move my current Epson into backup duty.

For those with experience in portable presentation/event environments, what would you recommend? Are there specific Epson, BenQ, ViewSonic, Optoma, or other models I should be looking at in the $350-or-less range (new or used)?

Also, is there anything significantly better than the Home Cinema 1040 for this application that I might be overlooking?

Thanks for any advice.
