Puppy at 10 weeks - loose stools

Our new boy is amazing. Came home at 8 weeks old, 2 weeks ago. From a very top breeder, and he already looks like it. He is charming, eager to please and has a big personality. Everything seems to be fine overall, but have question about bowel movements.

The 2 weeks we have had him, his stools are a bit loose, from diarreha like to soft mushy, to soft shaped stools.

I just tonight fed him a tablespoon of cooked baked sweet potato mash, and hope this helps. He fully transitioned to Frommes' Puppy formula about a week ago (9 weeks old)

Question; How much sweet potato to give him for a 1.5 cup measure of dry food? Would you use the multi-flora product longer than the few packets we started with?

thanks in advance!

Hi,

Purebred puppy from a great breeder, has some early shots from Canada Vet/breeder.. no real records.

Home with us in USA, just turned 9 weeks old.

Should we line up insurance first, or take to the vet in the next week?

Do the insurance companies want to see the vet records before moving forward? What if the vet just does a once-over check, no bloodwork, nothing exhaustive. We would not be going in for any reason, other than to establish relationship, get baseline kind of thing.

I got really screwed with my current dog, who had an ear infection (water in ear due to grooming) and all the pre-existing conditions were out of control.

How to avoid all of the pre-existing stuff... ??

thanks in advance
