Integrating stremio with *arr stack

I have been trying to find a way to integrate stremio with my setup but I couldn't find an easy way to achieve my desired setup.

What I have right now:

  • Stremio w/ torrentio
  • Home server w/ the whole *arr stack - sonarr, radarr, prowlarr pulling from several private trackers, integrated with jellyfin

This works reasonably well but the experience is a bit clunky:

  • For TV shows I regularly follow: jellyfin (sonarr takes care of it)
  • For Streaming popular media on-demand: stremio (path of least resistance)
  • For old media not on stremio anymore or high quality 4K encodes: jellyfin (requested via streamyfin or directy on sonarr/radarr)

Ideally, stremio would be used for everything in a seamless way. Here's how I'm thinking it should work:

  1. Search via prowlarr, showing all results from my indexers
    • If the content is already present on the server it is prioritized and marked as such. It can be streamed directly from the box
    • Otherwise it's sent to qbittorrent and starts downloading in sequential order
  2. Stremio is able to start streaming by somehow exposing the incomplete file(s) to it so it can start playing the media (maybe via NFS or some other protocol)
  3. Media lifecycle is handled by qbittorrent (depending on each indexer requirements)

I have searched around and while I can find small pieces of what I'm trying to achieve here and there, I haven't found reports of this exact setup working for anyone. And no, I don't want any debrid service, just my private trackers.

Has anyone achieved this?

Just how great is it in your organization currently?

In contrast to the thread where people complain about their current org, I thought it would be good to get some examples of organizations that are doing things right in this weird economic era and keep people engaged.

It would also be good to know which companies are getting ahead by trusting people and doing good engineering rather than rushing slop to prod.

Folks who have it good right now, what is your work like and what do you think your company is doing right?
