r/muslim marraige is an absolute nightmare and so avoidable its sad

I happened to come across this horrendous subreddit, Muslim Marraige, where loveless incompatible couples wonder how to keep 'alive' the institution of marraige as ordained by Allah. The tragedy is that most of their problems could have been completely avoidable if they went through a normal upbringing and a normal relationship before tying the knot.

Most of these people have no idea what they are getting into. Its just 'trying to avoid zina/sin' and 'fulfilling the sunnah' bla bla. There seems to be no understanding of love languages, compatibility, conflict management, value heirarchy, or the hundred different factors that make a relationship worth it. They havent touched another person and are expected to do the deed on the night of the marraige with essentially, a stranger having grown up in a conservative family where thinking about sex makes one guilty.

No wonder half the posts are women who 'don't feel attracted to their newly-wed husbands'. I kid you not, so many say 'they thought they would start feeling attraction after marraige' like its a switch. Also, too many are getting married too early imo. There are a few odd posts where they are very happy and I m genuinely happy for them because they got incredibly lucky.

There are posts where they are questioning where the 'additional rizq' as promised by Allah is after marriage and how they are struggling even more (duh).

Then there are troubles with in-laws, way too many questions about the legality of divorce and not enough on how to mend the relationship.

As a fellow human it just makes me sad and angry what lengths people go through to destroy their lifes with their self imposed rules and beliefs

I m sick of 'liberal hindus' defending Hindu violence

I m an exmuslim atheist and I m sick of Hindu society justifying hindu fanaticism in the name of 'unemployment'

I swear every single time there's any form of violence clearly done shouting Ram's name, under the identity of Hinduism its justified as a consequence of 'unemployment' or 'illiteracy' or 'Bimaru'.

Well there are unemployed folks the world around... Do they go around lynching minorities for their personal beliefs? Consumption of beef? Do they force people to shout slogans? It is clearly an extention of their religious identity so please shut the fuck up and own the many facets of your religion.

There are good hindus and bad hindus. But the bad hindus aren't necessarily bad despite hinduism, many because of it.

It's the inherent bias that 'true' hindus can't be 'fanatics' or 'terrorists'..

Just the No scotsman fallacy at work...

What grinds my gear is switching the hindus with muslims would ABSOLUTELY be correlated to religion. By everyone. And I agree. I do it too. I believe Islam leads to so much violence. But then why are you mum when it's saffron instead of green?

And the 'Hindu Atheists' may please answer because most of those daft men are just hindu apologists hiding under atheism.

It's been 5yrs in the closet for me. And it's getting suffocating. It's like a mental solitary confinement.

While I have many liberal non muslim friends, I also spend time with some of my muslim friends, who, for all their faults, haven't killed me, yet.

  1. Recently we went for dinner and out of nowhere, but typical for muslims to get to islam out of the blue isn't it, like 'the office' fans who can't shut up about it, someone brought up interest and 'islamic finance' and I blurted out 'its the same thing they just recuperate the interest in the name of a 'fee'.

Huzefa mooed innocently like a cow, 'Whats the point then?'

Surrounded by muslims but impervious nonetheless (perhaps it was the crispy chicken), I hammered-

'Allah doesn't have to know you know',

and remarkably, everyone burst out laughing. Funny how we can relax our morality with good food and some light hearted banter.

It was only in bed that night when I realised I was playing with fire, and hell. Nonetheless I prayed to the chef who made the chicken and slept peacefully, now that the Fajr Azan is banned here in Mumbai.

  1. Yesterday, as a big fan of classical music, I sent my sister a part of a concerto which she appreciated, I think. I then said, 'This is nothing, listen to the 2nd movement,

'It is literally a revelation from God'.

'You can't say that', she replied.

After promptly accusing of me of blasphemy, she says, 'Send me the link'

La Ilaha illallah, Beethoven Rasullullah,

I thought, and started a new religion.

This would have ended on a hopeful note but she didn't like it, the 2nd movement that is. She can go to hell for all I care.

Not all hope is lost perhaps. Just a few exmuslims friends and life will be full of inside jokes.
