I have a 96 inch Lazer Z that I have never been happy with. The cut quality of the rear discharge/mulching deck has been underwhelming… well after the 2 local dealers and Exmark reps telling me there were no options to fix the windrowing/clumping of the deck, and the dealers also had no interest in a buy back, I went to work and cut out a side discharge hole. Had to cut and manipulate multiple baffles and play with different blades to get the correct air flow for a side discharge unit and after messing with it many times I finally have a product that blows grass out 6-8 feet in an even spread pattern. Very happy! Still need to completely cut out the old baffles and do complete final replacements and welds, but a solid product. Amazes me the multiple of millions of dollars exmark spent to build this machine they couldn’t figure out a side discharge deck, when all it took was an upset shade tree mechanic with a grinder and a decent knowledge of air flow and grass dispersal. Here are the pictures of the final rough product!
