I have learned MANY things Since I first took a photo of this statue of ladies in Latrobe Park, New Orleans in 2015. First of all, this is not just a statue. It is something called a Wallace fountain and it used to be equipped with fresh drinking water. This striking, painted cast-iron sculpture was designed by French sculptor Charles-Auguste Lebourg and was gifted to New Orleans by the city of Paris in 1984 for the Louisiana World Exposition
It has probably moved location since the fair. This is nowhere near the only fountain of this type they were all over Paris! Wallace Fountains were for drinking water. They are gorgeous!!!!!!
