I am panicking

Hi all. I’m so thankful to have found this community and know that I’m not alone!

I’m moving in a few weeks and just submitted my 30 days to my landlord. He just texted me to confirm he received it and let me know he’ll need to start showing the apartment. Great!

The problem? My apartment looks like an episode of Hoarders and I’m going to be out of town the next week house sitting for my dad who lives nearly 3 hours away until the 10th. I literally feel like I’m going to keel over and die because my apartment is NOT even close to show ready. I’ve got a few hours before I need to leave, so I’m going to do a power clean to at least start, but I’m seriously hating myself right now for letting it get this bad in the first place.

Like a lot of people here, I have mental health struggles (ADHD, OCD) and broke my arm earlier this year slipping down the stairs here that required surgery. Additionally I’ve been dealing with major burn out at work so the last year went from messy to holy hoarder. I’ve also got neighbors who love to comment on things like taking out a lot of trash at once, which just adds to the paralysis and shame.

On the plus side, I live in a studio. But it’s filthy, trash is everywhere, I’ve got a drain fly infestation, and there’s doom piles galore. I know it will only take me a few hours to realllllyyyy power through this to get it to a point where I can get cleaners in, but I’ve been absolutely paralyzed by shame and embarrassment and just sheer overwhelm.

I guess I’m just posting here because I need to let this panic out and I need some encouragement / accountability. I’m going to ask my landlord if I can have until the 12th before he starts scheduling tours since I’ll be out of town and I want to make sure it’s show ready, but I genuinely have no clue what I’ll do if he says no because I can’t back out of house sitting.

I really hate myself right now lol why can’t I just naturally want to keep things clean :/

Torn on what to get next!

Hi! It’s been over a year since my last piercings and the itch to get more has gotten too strong to ignore 🥲 It’s my left ear’s turn for some love and, aside from my third lobe, I’m not sure what else to get. I’m thinking a new helix somewhere between my existing one and my lobe and, if my piercer approves my anatomy, maybe a forward helix? Or a flat in that big empty space by my tiny mole?

The pictures are from the last year. The ear with the snake is my left ear. My right ear is the other pic so you can get an idea of what that set up currently looks like (ignore the redness - the pic was taken right after piercing 🤣).

If there’s something else I should consider, let me know your thoughts!

A couple additional things to add:

- I heal cartilage pretty well which is why I’m thinking of 2 in addition to the third lobe.

- I work a sales job and wear AirPods daily, so no tragus/daith/conch/etc that will get pissy with me taking the AirPods in and out multiple times a day.

Thanks!

Hi fellow ORIF friends 👋

35/F. Fell down the stairs on 2/21 and ended up with a proximal humerus fracture. Not my finest moment, but here we are lol. I had surgery on 3/03 and started PT 3/30. I’ve been going twice a week and I’ve got my 6 week post op follow up tomorrow (4/28), so I’ll also be consulting with the doctor as needed.

I’m pretty sure my anxiety brain is taking over, so that’s why I’m posting here to (hopefully) get it to shut up. PT has helped a lot with ROM so far, but I’m terrified I won’t be able to reach behind me ever again. Which is kind of a problem when it comes to things like dressing myself, yknow?

Additionally, the stiffness and pain is killiiiinnnngggg me on a day to day basis, especially since the weather where I live has been going back and forth between warm and cold/rainy. At PT, my ROM really loosens up after the arm bike, but I don’t have that at home, so it’s extra frustrating trying to do wall slides or reach for someone on a higher shelf because my shoulder is pissed. I know this whole thing is A Process and I’m doing so much better than I was even a few weeks ago, but omg please tell me it gets better 😅

I think my biggest concern is the feeling of my shoulder being “locked”. The metal isn’t IN my joint, so it’s probably the scar tissue, but it just feels like something painful is “blocking” it. Or maybe this is normal ROM lol my shoulders have always been fairly hypermobile.

ANYWAY, all of this to say:

  1. After the initial 6-8 weeks post op, did your ROM continue to improve?

  2. when did it stop hurting outside of your “comfort” range?

  3. how long did you continue PT? I’m going to ask for more, because I feel like 12 sessions just isn’t enough for me so far, but curious to know when yall stopped.

The only positive of all of this is my right arm is getting a muscle again from all of the extra use the last 6 weeks….a win is a win right 🤣
