Going down the stairs with no support! AMAN - Full paralysis

Hello GBS ATHLETES!

I wanted to share my big milestone: going down the stairs with no support!

I feel now that my legs are strong enough, and now it is time for the ankles/ feet to finish the process.

Here my previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/guillainbarre/s/uaVq2Q4wkJ

Again: they told this bitch i might never walk again. THEY. WERE. WRONG!

Much love to you all.

Switching from Pixel - which iPhone?

Hi all,

As the headline says. After many years using Google Pixel I might do the move and switch to iPhone. So nervous but excited too!

Now, i have some questions so please bear with me.

Phones i am considering are:

-17

-Air

-17 Pro

Questions!

- which one is better prepared to last for at least 2-3 years?

-Is the Air battery so bad? I LOVE the form factor of this phone (gives me The Expanse show vibes), but I don't want to stress over battery not I want to carry one external battery with me.

- I read somewhere that only the Air and the 17 Pros will be able to run AI powered Siri because of the 12Gb. Is this true? Cause that would rule out the 17 entirely for me

-About timing to buy. My friends told me to wait until they announce the new phones, so I can get the current lineup for cheaper. But then I read that the moment they announce the next iteration, they stop selling the current lineup. So I am a bit lost here.

Thank you all in advance for your responses!

Last visit to the doctor - Post Filac Surgery (complex fistula)

Hi fistula friends!

Bringing some positive light.

Here my previous post, which also links to the prior one documenting my healing journey:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalFistula/s/4nVqLxSaqc

I just visited my CRS after 6 weeks and she said my fistula seems to be gone and that the area looks like if nothing had happened!! I don't drain anymore and I have no pain.

Laser surgery had 60% chances of working, or perhaps even more due to the setons I had prior to surgery for 5 months. And it seems IT WORKED!

She told me to see her again in 6 months, but cleared me to have a normal life, going into the pool, etc. She also said to avoid biking for a while and definitely no anal sex for a few months (i am a gay man myself, but I can cope with that for a bit).

MY ADVICE: If you qualify for laser surgery, give it a try. It is minimally invasive, mild post surgery pain, and it accepts more laser treatments or other options of surgery if it fails.

Here to answer questions, if any.

Much love to all.

8 weeks post laser surgery

Hi all!

Here my last post on my recovery from Filac surgery

https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalFistula/s/QOVQgPWXzG

I am now 8 weeks post op and it seems all holes that were left open post surgery are now closed. I barely barely drain at this point during the day, and I have been waking up to a completely spotless night gauze. There is no wetness either.

It seems my surgery might have worked! I have no pain. No discomfort. No new bumps. In fact the inflammation has gone away and scar healing tissue is settling down.

I have my check in with my doctor in a few days so let's see what she says. But I am hopeful!

Feel free to ask questions.

Update - year and a half post AMAN

Hi all!

Here an update to my previous post:https://www.reddit.com/r/guillainbarre/s/PAPrDQ5dqR

Needed to speak both in Spanish and English for my family and friends as I live cross-continents.

I was paralyzed from neck down for months. No ventilator though. I was told I might never walk again but I couldn't accept that. I simply couldn't. They said no to the wrong bitch.

Left wheelchair this past December.

As you can see now I am bending my knees without any support.

For real. There is hope. But you gotta work as hard as you can.

6 weeks post Filac surgery (laser)

Hi fistula friends!

Bringing some positive light.

Here my previous post:https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalFistula/s/6zlR1XbSR3

Today marks 6 weeks post laser surgery and the pain is non existent. I had 3 orifices post surgery and two have closed. The one remaining barely drains at this point, depending on physical activity, but my overnight gauze has been completely spotless for the last 3 nights.

I am not singing victory nor I want to jinx it, but I feel the best I have in months.

I saw my surgeon last week and she said it is looking good. Instead of weekly check ins now she wants to see me next in 5 weeks.

Feel free to ask questions!

AMAN - Now bending knees while walking

1 year and 5 months after getting fully paralyzed from neck down, and being told I might never walk again .. well, now I am practicing bending my knees while walking!

The reason I am using two poles now is because I am getting to a point where my knees want to naturally bend, and my brain (with bad habits) stops that from happening.

So I am now using two poles to tell my brain: no bitch, i will bend my knees while I feel safe.

And at some point I will release one pole and soon after that, the last one!

We got this GBS athletes.

30 days post filac

Hi fistula fellas,

As the title says, i am 30 days post fístula filac (laser) surgery.

Here is my OG post after 3 days

https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalFistula/s/wYGATPS966

Some more details about me:

-I had a complex fistula with 2 tracts

-Had 2 setons placed for 5 months (which reportedly increases Filac success rates) prior to Filac

-I had the orifices open after surgery, with internal stitching

Now: no pain, not even after BM, and one orifice has closed and no drainage. The other opening is closing and draining less.

My doctor said to return in 6 weeks as it seems it is healing the way it is supposed to. Crossing all fingers!!

If you have questions, feel free!

AT LAST! Major Recovery Update

Hi GBS athletes!

For context and reference, here my last post

https://www.reddit.com/r/guillainbarre/s/MeF8lOrtMs

Well...fast forward a few months..something VERY MAGICAL just happened today during PT. Something I have been wishing for months to write.

Today in PT for the first time since all started I began bending my knees while walking! And kept going and going. My legs are strong enough now. But balance wise now it is time for the ankles to wake up, but it is happening! I am healing in the way I am supposed to (what's the purpose of the ankles being strong if your legs can't resist your weight?) i got home and again, walking bending my knees. Now it is a matter of time and repetition, but the end is near! My PT team got even emotional seeing me.

There is hope.

You just need to a) deeply believe it and b) work really REALLY hard, both mental and physically.

Feel free to DM me if you want to talk, vent, cry.

3 Day Post Filac Surgery

Ask away!

I know Filac is relatively new for many of us, so whatever I can do to help if my direct experience helps.
