Fear of ENS

Hey all, I know this is the eleventh hour but tomorrow I have a septoplasty scheduled with turbinate reduction. ENT is using a microdebrider (sp?) for the turbinates, but I am getting really freaked out about empty nose syndrome. I know occurrences are rare… but man have I seen SO many anecdotes of it going wrong. Thinking about canceling the whole thing.

For context I have some but little nasal breathing capability. Always stuffy even when I’m “clear”.

ETA: ENT said he’s never had a patient develop ENS before. He’s been practicing around 10 years.

Drakan Fight is perfection

Mom says it’s my turn to post about the Drakan fight.

I started the quest late since I was out of town during release, so I saw all of the discourse online and was a little worried. I’m maxed but not the most mechanically proficient in PVM.

The Drakan fight is NOT that bad. I did the entire quest without looking anything up. You spend the entire quest learning his moveset little by little. Then, by the time you understand it, you can (somewhat) reliably dodge in the solo encounter. If you die? Who cares. You have unlimited attempts and supplies, and the walk back is only a few tiles. To me, this was the perfect amount of friction without becoming outright annoying. It took me several attempts because I had to learn the mechanics, but I savored every attempt because by the end of it, I felt really good about reading the attack patterns. This fight is heavily souls-like coded and the influence is clear. You can’t brute force eat your way out of the fight, you HAVE TO learn the mechanics. Drakan gave me the same sense of accomplishment that I get out of beating bosses in souls games, and is something I’ve craved.

This was by far the most fun boss I have ever fought in OSRS, and I hope Jagex cooks up similar mechanics for Raids 4. If you’re struggling, just keep at it! You can do this.
