Quiet, nerdy, obsessive, niche communities/interest clubs in LA?

I want to expand my world and enter into hushed, obsessive new worlds centered around learning, discussing, and appreciating niche interests. Best if truly community based (same people over and over), low cost/accessible, a variety of ages and demographics. Does anyone know of places like this?

Examples:
-California Rare fruit growers who meet at the LA arboretum and swap cuttings
-Death Cafe at the Philosophical Research Society
-LA Mycological Society who host foraging walks and mushroom lectures

Less interested in vibey and aesthetically perfect paid “community” spaces that feel more like a random group of hot people with similar fashion senses.

Thank you in advance!!

Psa for Pasadena renters

Someone canvassing for Pasadena Housing Providers came to my door and told me that their organization was supporting tenants protections and a rent cap. However, upon some googling later on, it looks like this is a landlord association and they are definitely NOT in support of renter-friendly measures.

I’m new to the area, easily overwhelmed, and the person canvassing was speaking super quickly so I signed her petition. Ugh. Figuring out how to recind my signature.

Has anyone else in Pasadena experienced this? Wondering what the canvassers told you?

***Update: If you need to retract your signature, send an email to cityclerk@cityofpasadena.net

If you don’t know the official title of the petition (I don’t), include as much information as you can remember that might help identify it. Be sure to include your full name and residential address so they can locate your signature.
