My cars are older cars but very well maintained. New engine in one of them, new upholstery and new paint, etc. If someone were to get in an accident with me, it's likely they'd "total" the car because of age and mileage. Could I choose to do the repair work myself and get a payout from the offending party's insurance to lower repair costs?

Bottom line is they don't employ many people, require constantly running generators, require lots of water for cooling, use lots of community infrastructure without adding anything, financed mostly with speculative money that is about to stop.
Seems most local governments are at first enamored with them but after the thrill is gone, often they are left unfinished.

Interesting YouTube . Starlink changed their Terms of Service policy with no announcement and this directly effects people who have opted for Standby Mode. They can now bill a "Demand Surcharge" that can be up to $1,500 when going from Standby Mode to regular speed. The fee is dependent upon your area but there is no way to search to find what your fee would be.
