Opinions on this?

I’m reading “The mountain is YOU” and came across this entire passage. I find this controversial
I agree with the fact that we should live in the present and not dwell over the past/future, but don’t you think it defines us more than we think?
I know a mate of mine who fucks everything up because of the mentality that he wants to live in the moment and not regret anything later, and not even self-reflecting his past because it saddens him?
We all need to have some sort of a self-control, at-least for our future.

Also what does the last sentence mean? Whats the balance?

I have been going through some self-reflection and I noticed I do share my opinion in a very extreme manner- “oh I think all …. Are annoying “, “yeah it’s (always) so cringe”. My acquaintances often stopped indulging in such conversations with me even when I didn’t mean to stay adamant about anything, I’m always open to different povs.
While you may be right about it, there’s always that 1% of the population who won’t agree w you for whatever reasons, it may seem to offend people depending on why they believe the opposite to be correct.

So I changed my way of putting forward my words, often using terms like “most of it”, “almost everything, “not everyone”. This not only lets you give your views but allows others to freely put their beliefs forward without making them think you’re stereotypical and judgmental.
It seems to be working well for me, we’ve started having deeper and more conversations about heavy topics.
