A love letter to The Shepherd's Crown

Spoilers

I bought The Shepherd's Crown soon after it was released. I didn't get to it, and then Sir Terry passed. So, like many others, it has been languishing on my shelf.

Last year I reread all the Tiffany books, determined to finally read it on Christmas break. But I didn't. Then I was going to read it in March; but I didn't. Then it was when I went on vacation in June; but I didn't. But since June I haven't been able to find a book I wanted to read. I started and put aside probably ten different books and couldn't figure out what my problem was. Then it flashed into my mind: Read The Shepherd's Crown. So I finally did.

The tears started with the first word. Chapter Two wrecked me but I pressed on. Once I hit my reading stride I was able to enjoy the journey. With the last chapter I felt complete.

The Prologue, Chapters One, Two, Four and The Epilogue are lovely. They are the chapters that matter and you can tell that they are ones that Sir Terry was able to spend the most time crafting. The writing in the other chapters is more spare and there are areas that you can imagine he would have loved to flesh out. But it is a complete story and even though he was in the final battle with the embuggerance, his writing is still excellent and compelling.

Tiffany wonders "Where is Granny Weatherwax?"

The answer to the question is:

"Granny Weatherwax was indeed here. And there. She was, in fact, and always would be, everywhere."

We know that Sir Terry used his writing to channel his rage. With this book, he changes tactics. I believe that in The Shepherd's Crown Sir Terry lays a geas upon his fans. He knew that the world is full of embuggerances. Just as it took the diverse peoples - old, young, strong and weak - of both Lancre and the Chalk to come together to face the big bad, we who have treasured his words are charged to carry them into the world. We have our parts to play in our small corners of the world to show compassion, care for those in need, and fight when we see wrongs.

Granny Weatherwax is in us.

I hope all who are waiting to read it get to hear that little voice telling you to go ahead. Reading it will be sad, but it will also fill your heart with love.

Thank you for sharing your gift Sir Terry Pratchett. GNU.

Took the plunge

Completed my intake this afternoon after spending several days reading through this sub. Many thanks to folks that have been sharing their experiences. I feel confident I made the right decision with the med and the provider.

I've opted for tirz with glycine from Boudreaux. I have an auto inflammatory condition that I'm hoping this combo helps with (besides the weight loss of course).

Excited to get started!

Has anyone tried GLP 1s while on AIP?

I've been doing AIP for about 10 years so I'm really dialed in on my triggers/safe foods. I'm now considering trying a glp 1, specifically terzapatide (zepbound). I'm choosing it because there is research on it having anti inflammatory effects so hopefully it will not trigger flares in my condition. I will likely be ordering through trytrillium.com since my insurance (kaiser) won't cover it.

My concern going on it is dealing with food given my already sucky-to-navigate restrictions around eating and then adding nausea on top of that. Reading through the various glp1 subs it seems like a lot of people rely on whey/yogurt to meet their protein needs. Those are a no go because of milk, and I haven't found a protein powder that is dairy free that isn't absolutely disgusting in taste. I do have access to a couple of high protein yogurt subs that are good, but they are pricey but if that has to be my go to then so be it.

If anyone has tips/stories of doing AIP and glp 1 I d love to hear your experience. Thanks!
