Does anyone else still carry things from being bullied, even years later?

I don’t really know why I’m posting this, but I guess I’m wondering if anyone else feels the same.
I was bullied, and even though a lot of time has passed, there are still certain things that stick with me. Sometimes it’s something obvious, but often it’s the small moments that most people probably wouldn’t even think twice about.

Things someone said once that you never forgot.
Being laughed at.
People whispering when you walked by.
Feeling uncomfortable eating in front of others.
Apologizing for everything.
Avoiding certain places or situations.

I’m curious if anyone else still experiences things like that.
What are the moments, big or small, that have stayed with you? And if you’re comfortable sharing, how do they still affect you today?

You obviously don’t have to share anything you’re not comfortable with. I just want to know if I’m not alone in feeling like some of these things never completely disappear.

Help me make my character more realistic

Hi everyone,

I’m writing/planing a novel and one of my main characters is a teenage girl who is bullied especially at school.
I’d like to portray the experience as realistically and respectfully as possible and I want her experience to feel authentic rather than like a movie stereotype.

If you feel comfortable sharing, I’d be grateful to hear about your own experiences with bullying, whether it was something major or just small everyday moments that stuck with you.

This post is not meant to exploit anyone’s experiences. Quite the opposite. I know my own perspective and experience is limited to some point and already brought to my paper, I want to write this character with as much honesty and care as possible rather than reducing her struggles to a plot device

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
