My last SoCo Homebrew visit

Today was the first day I got a chance to go, only just learning of their closing this past weekend.

I think the triple combination of the store's imminent closing, the GOOB sale, and my arrival right at lunch time meant I saw more people there today than I ever have before. (Now, I'll qualify that with the fact that this was maybe only my fourth time there ever. So I'm working with a pretty small sample size. I would've gone more often but it's hard for me to get there.)

I arrived with a shopping list that I scribbled together late last night, not knowing what they would or wouldn't have left in stock. It was mostly successful. I left with a $140 haul that only cost me half that.

I'd call it a bittersweet moment, but I've always thought of bitter/sweet as a fifty/fifty split. This felt more like 80/20. I'm sad to see it go, in spite of my own infrequent visits.

Can I order supplies online? Of course. But the LHBS has grain bins that you can see and smell right there! I carried off five pounds of freshly-milled grain that smelled heavenly. Checkmate, e-commerce!

And if anyone is wondering, "Who bought that very last packet of dry yeast?" It was me.

"Is this the last one?" I asked, having just pulled it from a near-empty cooler.

"It is. Looks like you win."

But only an 80/20 win.

Yeast viability tests

I have three different yeast packets leftover from prior 1-gallon batches. I wanted to see if any were still viable (they've been sealed in ziplock bags in the fridge). So I added some to warm sugar water and waited a few hours.

The yeasts were US-05, K-97, and WB-06 and I was hoping to get some second opinions on the results. Thanks!

So, no creative answers allowed?

I thought I'd have a little bit of fun with the answer, maybe to expand my skills a bit. I guess that's interdite !

Negation question

For the sentence nous avons décidé de ne pas changer I put changer between ne-pas and got it wrong. I clicked "Explain my answer" and the examples show the verb between ne and pas as shown in the image.

What's the rule for ne <verbe> pas vs. ne pas <verbe>?

Is is solely because it's the infinitive?

Brutal week in my league

Also, only 13 in the league? Are they getting smaller for others?

I've got dozens of two-hour videos that I have to go through. To help with editing downstream, I'm on the Cut page and creating subclips as I go with ⌥B like so:

https://preview.redd.it/or92xyy1i6yg1.png?width=448&format=png&auto=webp&s=897b0c63f9b84acec1e74c3e528cac4f643b0036

About half the time (maybe more?) the Name field does not visually respond to edits. Like, I can move the cursor around with motor memory and type. And if I hit enter, the new sub-clip shows up in the Media Bin with my edits. But visually, it just looks stuck.

Then it's fine again.

Then it's not.

I'm currently using 21b2, but this has plagued me since at least 18 or 19. Also macOS, if that helps. Mostly curious if anyone else has run into this.
