Epic of Gilgamesh isn’t actually the oldest surviving story.
There’s an older one but it sucks so the people who discovered it just kinda didn’t talk about it. Like, the Epic of Gilgamesh is so fucking good and it can’t be that we just lucked out and the oldest surviving fictional story is a banger. There’s gotta be something that really sucked so they just chose to lie.
