Australian man alleged to have killed a teenage girl in Thailand arrested.

He also gives what appears to be an apology in this new clip from Nine's YouTube channel.

*Edit: My apologies - this is the first in a series of weekend headlines - the thumbnail is from Channel 9's YouTube Page and probably relevant to a later story than the subject of this post.

One Nation Political Content

Hey all,

Over the past little while we’ve seen a noticeable increase in posts and comments that are essentially the same arguments for AND against One Nation being repeated over and over.

While most of this content does not directly break our rules (and indeed is largely media driven), it is becoming increasingly tiresome for a lot of users and is starting to drown out the broader range of topics that this sub exists for.

This subreddit is not primarily a politics subreddit, and we’re not interested in becoming a single issue battleground. To keep the sub usable and varied, we may start removing repetitive or low‑effort One Nation related content at moderator discretion, under rule 7 - No Repeated Topics/Posts.

These removals may occur without prior warning or detailed explanation.

You are still welcome to discuss Australian politics, including One Nation, where it is clearly relevant to the topic and adds something new. However, if you are repeatedly posting the same talking points, memes, or bait threads, you should expect that they may be removed without notice and that further action may be taken if it becomes disruptive.

As always, if you have questions about a specific removal, you can contact the mod team via modmail, but this is NOT an invitation to argue about One Nation itself.

We appreciate everyone’s help in keeping r/aussie a broadly focused Australian community rather than a single‑issue political echo chamber.

Royal Household Bureau Statement: Princess Bajrakitiyabha Has Passed Away

The Royal Household Bureau has issued an announcement concerning the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Princess Rajasarini Siribajra Mahavajrarajadhida.

On 12 June 2026, the Royal Household Bureau issued an announcement concerning the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Princess Rajasarini Siribajra Mahavajrarajadhida, as follows:

Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Princess Rajasarini Siribajra Mahavajrarajadhida had fallen gravely ill and lost consciousness due to a cardiac condition, and had been admitted for treatment at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital of the The Thai Red Cross Society since 15 December 2022, as the Royal Household Bureau had periodically issued announcements for public acknowledgment.

Since 21 May 2026, Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Princess Rajasarini Siribajra Mahavajrarajadhida’s condition had deteriorated due to an infection in the abdominal cavity, caused by inflammation of the colon, together with low blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia, and abnormalities in blood coagulation.

Although the medical team rendered treatment with the utmost care and to the fullest extent of their abilities, Her Royal Highness’s condition progressively worsened, until Thursday, 11 June 2026, at 7:48 p.m., when Her Royal Highness peacefully passed away at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital of the The Thai Red Cross Society, at the age of 47.

Maha Vajiralongkorn has issued a Royal Command graciously instructing the Royal Household Bureau to conduct the funeral rites and bestow upon Her Royal Highness the highest royal honors in accordance with royal tradition. Her Royal Remains shall lie in state at Phiman Rattaya Hall within the Grand Palace.

Thailand in June

June 2026 in Thailand is packed!!

Pride Month events in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and more, rocket festivals up in Isaan, the Phi Ta Khon ghost festival in Loei later this month, and even a volcano durian festival in Sisaket (how will that smell???).

If you’re in Thailand right now (Thai, expat, long‑term visitor), what’s one June event, festival, or local thing you’re seeing where you are?

Are you actually going, avoiding it, or just seeing it on the news/ads?

If someone visited your area this month, would you tell them to check it out or skip it?

Short answers are totally fine – just curious what June looks and feels like on the ground in different parts of the country. 🙏

Thailand events in May

Thailand seems to be absolutely full of events this May. There's everything from the Nan Skateboard Boat Race and GI Tour & Trail Running, to Craft Klang Krung in Bangkok, Satun Halal Street, and the “ten million rockets” festival in Surin.

For people living in Thailand (or frequent visitors):

Which May festivals or events have you actually been to and would recommend?

Any that look cool in photos but are crowded / overhyped / mostly for tourists?

Tips for first‑timers (best time to go, what to eat, what to avoid, basic etiquette)?

I think this could be super helpful both for people living here and people planning trips. Please mention roughly where it is (e.g. Chiang Mai, Surin, Bangkok, Satun, etc.).
