Keen to get some collective thoughts on this dilemma -
I am an advanced level poler who has been training for 5 years in a range of different studios. I have been at my current studio for the past 2 years.
Recently a person in our class has started to do comps where shoes are required. They have started wearing their pleasers to class, which I have no problem with if they were on a side pole, however they take the middle pole in the classroom, with 4 to 5 of us including the instructor on the outside. They can be quite nasty to other students, so I don't feel okay approaching them about it.
3 years ago I broke my foot while training pole as I went to a different studio that didn't disclose Pleasers are recommended when training - I was mid way through a climb on my pole and the person next to me was spinning and hit my foot with her stiletto. It was a long and arduous recovery and I'd really like to not get injured again.
I spoke to our studio owner about the wearing of Pleasers during training and they agreed that it is a safety risk (especially since this person does not have any sense of self awareness). That was two weeks ago. The person in the class is still showing up with shoes on, while everyone else is shoeless.
I no longer feel safe going to class and am not feeling like the studio owner is standing up for me here. There are no other studios in my city. What should I do?
