Experimentation

I hope I don't get roasted here. I make salsa all kinds of ways. My favorite is roasted tomatoes, peppers, etc ...

Sometimes in a pinch it's straight El Pato. I like most types. I haven't ever in 40 years found a good go-to store bought brand but some play their part.

Here is my latest experiment that I have to say is friggin tasty. Add pureed garlic, cilantro, chopped onion, salt, and cumin.

Sorry. Here is the recipe with ballpark measurements.

1 can of each shown About 3 Guajillo peppers (I've also used California, ancho, whatever I had) About 6 arbols 1/2-1 onion diced Cilantro to taste. I like a lot.
2-3 garlic cloves

Lightly toast the peppers. I put them in a coffee mug after and fill with boiling water, cover, and let steep for awhile (10-30 min).

Toss into a blender or processor the peppers, garlic, some cilantro (and save some to chop and add after blending), and some to all of the water from the pepper mug. Once blended pour into a bowl, add the cans and onions and chopped cilantro. Sprinkle of cumin. Salt to taste.

Gen 2 Prius Questions

Howdy!

I have owned 2 Gen 2 Priuses. 2005 & 2008. The first one I traded in at 394k. The 2008 I bought with 122k on it and am still going at close to 300k. Greatest cars ever IMO.

So a friend of mine is in a tight spot and needs a car. Money is a factor but long term sound financial decisions are also needed to be weighed.

At first I said it's a no-brainer, find a gen 2 Prius, spend 3-5k on one with 150k miles on it, and ride it till the wheels fall off.

A couple of things... One is I bought my 2008 in 2016... A lot of time has passed since then and these Gen 2s are now a decade older.

Also, a friend who works on these cars for a living and was a big advocate for the Gen 2s now says they are too old, and parts are more expensive, and he would suggest a 2015ish Prius C. Those are a heavier financial investment though and I don't have any experiences with that car.

What to advise my friend? Stick with the minimal financial investment and go with the Gen 2 seeing that there is less risk with less money spent (considering this would most likely be a fb marketplace purchase), or spend double on a newer model Prius C with the assumption it will last twice as long.

The Gen 2s I've had have been relatively maintenance free and low cost of ownership. Not sure about the newer model Cs.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
