BIOL 223 lab: does it go up until the posted time or do you get let out a few minutes early?
Going back to school after a few years! I’m trying to figure out the best schedule to balance with work.
Basically the title. I took 223 a few years ago, got a C-, and then dropped out lol. If my memory serves me right, most days our instructor would let us out a few minutes early, it’s not like we had to stay up until the exact hour every week. But I 1) don’t remember for sure 2) am doing lab at a different campus this time around.
There is also no instructor currently listed for the lab I’m enrolled in.
My dilemma is the lab I signed up for is scheduled from 4-7pm. I need to change my work schedule and I was thinking taking the shift that starts at 7pm. I work less than 10 minutes away from campus, so if lab gets out by 6:50 on most days it’s no issue and I don’t even have to bring it up to my boss/coworkers. If they mandate we stay up until 7pm on the dot, I can get to work around 7:10pm, which isn’t ideal but I can ask my boss about it.
However, has anyone ever stayed past the scheduled time for lab? Not talking about a one off occurrence but multiple times in a semester. If lab gets let out late regularly (like 7:10pm), I would be getting to work at 7:20pm which probably wouldn’t fly and I’d need to rethink this entire schedule.
Anyways, what has your experience been? I know the obvious answer would probably “don’t pick a lab that ends at 7pm if work starts at 7pm”, but I’m very limited on what possibilities I have for my work schedule (and subsequently school/lab schedule) this semester, and if I stand a reasonable chance of being let out 10 minutes early on most days this could be a feasible schedule for me!
Thanks in advance for the input :)
