What do you make of Anthony Fantano and his channel The Needle Drop?

I 100% do NOT get why he is so polarizing?

People seem to hate him or think of him as some kind of all knowing, all wise music critic mad genius Godhead.

I don't get it & it's been annoying me.

I watched his show a few times and while it wasn't for me, besides finding him a little annoying at times, I certainly don't hate him and acknowledge that he knows more about music than most people in the world ever will but again I felt no great love nor any kind of hate for him but many have strong thoughts on him.

Thoughts?

Please enjoy my drawing of A.F. it took me almost 45 seconds to draw & I hope it serves as a great inspiration to all!

Kicking off July and the next 500 albums (this being album # 501) on a sunny hopeful high note.

Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ry Cooder (yes, THE Ry Cooder) produced & plays guitar (among other instruments) on this very interesting and joyful album of Cuban music that I likely never would have heard if it wasn't for me doing this 1001 albums project.
So as much as I bitch about the list sometimes - it certainly has introduced me to some essential music that without Dimery's book there is no way in hell I would have ever heard.

Being introduced to wonderful new music (new to me) is exactly why I'm doing this project and I'm grateful for that.

I know next to nothing about Cuban music (outside of a few huge names like Ceila Cruz, Tito Puentes, Buddy Morrow and Machito, etc.) but the little I have heard I really like how it makes me feel like dancing but also napping on the beach with a fun coconut cocktail!

This music grounds me and sometimes nothing soothes the soul as much as your bare feet touching earth.

I grew up in used record shops and have seen this album about a million times and never picked it up - I aim to change that this coming holiday weekend.

Almost have way there! I feel like Frodo!

I have enjoyed doing this project for the most part, but I did almost quit a few times as it was almost impossible to finish some albums (but I did as I vowed that the day, I don't listen to an album properly, ALL OF IT no skipping tracks, no rating an album without actually hearing it (you know who you are) I would gracefully bow out.

Here's to 1089 (is that right?) or at least 1001!

Keep the faith! - Chelsea M.

Not sure if I'm doing this right if not, I'll edit.

What a lame way to reach # 0500. I'm not even much of a Foo Fighters fan but something by them was my first album on here # 0001 & it was a lot better than Joanna Newsom's Ys.

Joanna Newsom - Ys - ⭐️

Fuck this bitch!
I was in a good mood before hearing Ys!
An hour (feels like 4) of her insanely annoying voice (is her trying to sound like a toddler on LSD supposed to be endearing?) and precious lyrics (when you can make them out) was an hour too long.
One of the worst albums I have heard doing this sometimes vastly unrewarding project.
