Question for Lightroom users shooting RAW on mirrorless
I know this topic has been discussed a few times, but I wanted to revisit it regarding workflow. I’ve read on this sub that the camera profile you set in-camera, like “Camera Standard,” is automatically applied when you import RAW files into Lightroom. However, I’ve also seen people mention that the profile Lightroom applies is Adobe’s interpretation and not the exact same Camera Standard profile created by Nikon.
I mostly shoot landscapes and occasionally print my images, so I want to make sure I’m getting the most out of my RAW files and not leaving image quality on the table.
For those using a similar workflow, what are you doing? Part of me thinks that since I’m shooting RAW, the in-camera profile is really just a starting point anyway. As long as I’m importing into Lightroom with minimal adjustments, I should have enough flexibility to push the file where I want. Because of that, I’m wondering if it makes more sense to start with a flatter profile like Camera Neutral and edit from there.
I know...I may be overthinking this :-P
Annular Tear + Disc Herniation — Can’t Sleep
I was recently diagnosed with a disc herniation and annular tear after severe pain that sent me to the ER.
Without getting too deep into the details, the hardest part right now is sleeping. I can’t lie flat for long or sleep on either side without pain flaring up. The only position that gives me some relief is on my back with a pillow under my knees, but eventually I still have to move because the discomfort builds up.
Oddly enough, I’m otherwise pretty functional. I’m active, healthy overall, and I actually feel okay when I’m moving around or sitting upright in a chair with my legs elevated. Part of me is grateful because I know these injuries can be much worse, but the lack of sleep is really starting to wear on me mentally and physically.
I’m scheduled to see a neurosurgeon (follow up from the ER visit) in a couple of weeks and also have an appointment with my primary care doctor on Monday.
Mostly just wondering if anyone found anything that helped them sleep or get more comfortable while healing. I was obviously given some strong stuff along with Ibuprofen but I don't want to rely on them for pain every single night in order to sleep.
I'm looking for an outdoor security camera for an elderly family member and could use some recommendations.
Main requirements:
- Works with an iPhone app
- No required monthly subscription
- Simple to use (the easier the better)
- Outdoor use (likely monitoring a front door or driveway)
Reliable motion alerts(not a must due to false alerts will drive them crazy).- Prefer wired but battery is ok as long as it's reliable.
- Must be WiFi
Apologies since I know this question has been asked before but technology changes so fast and there's always something new hitting the market.
Thank you!
