Some 365 shots with vintage lenses and the Zf

I do a 365 project every other year (one shot a day for a year) and it really drives my use of my vintage gear collection, which I love to use any way it's just a way to self motivate. I don't always use the Zf, but for the most part I do. The vintage gear just doesn't have the same feel on the Z7ll, it just isn't near as fun.

First three images are with a Nikkor 24mm 2.8 H-Auto (Pre-Ai) Next three are with a Nikkor 105mm 2.5 Pre-ai, number 7-9 are with the Minolta Rokkor 58mm 1.2 (the Hawkeye) which has reigned supreme as my favorite vintage lens so far, and the last one is with the Nikkor 135mm 2.8 Q Pre-ai. They are all good looking lenses but that Rokkor is just an exceptionally beautiful piece of glass! I'll throw a shot of it at the end.

July 4th weekend at the lake

Captured moments around our friend's lake/lakehouse this weekend for our annual trip out there with them. All are Zf, most are with the Viltrox EVO 55, and some are with an upcoming lens.

The Zf stays undefeated for low profile walkabout documentary camera for me.

Just of a bit of Americana from my neck of the woods on this 250th...

More with the Voigtlander 40 1.2.

I'm starting to understand the lens/camera and techart adapter better now that it's been a few days. Unless you've used it, it's very hard to explain how it feels. It's like an old really cool, well built machinery. There's noises and clicks and movement and you have to fight it a bit to nail the focus but when you do, oh wow is it worth it. More shots from my walk around the neighborhood.

I bought the Zf, 40 1.2 and Thypoch 28 1.4 becuase I was chasing lens charecter. That's it. I set my expectations accordingly and am unbelievably happy with the images. It feels more rewarding to nail the shot tbh and havent felt that since the dslr days or when I was one of the early adopters of the original fuji x100 and xpro1 when it launched.

I've watched all the reviews a dozen times before picking any of these up. Only one video mentioned something that felt like it explained the look or pop so brilliantly. The falloff and transition of the dof is like butter. There's no harsh line in the sand. It's a very gradual transition. I personally believe this helps with the "look" that people mention using the 40 1.2. And that swirl that shows up is also very pleasing. Sorry for the not so exciting subjects!

Need help with Viltrox e-z adapter with nikon zr.

I am facing a issue where i am unable to change my aperture. If i change it to something other than the highest aperture (e.g. f/1.4 or f1.8) it chages for a slipt second then revert back to the lowest value the biggest aperture. It happened suddenly and now it continues with all my sony lens. Anyone faced this? Any solution?

2nd outing with the Zf

Last night was beautiful so I went for a walk around the neighborhood with my new camera/lens to get to know it better. I was lucky enough to run into this little bundle of fur and his awesome owner and thankfully was up for me taking some cool photos.

You never know who or what you'll run into or what conversations it can lead to so this is a challenge to myself to do that more. As for the camera/lens, I really like it so far. It's so tactile that it feels like I went from driving a new car to a tank in a good way. Still adjusting to the techart adapter as well as how it meters so I was riding the exp comp in aperture priority which is how I usually shoot with auto ss min ss 1/320 and auto iso up to 12,800.

Tbh I'm still a bit shocked at how these images render from both the lens and camera. It's really beautiful and, given the right scene, can produce some really magical bokeh and dof wide open. Loving it so far.

Camera: @nikonusa Zf

Lens: @voigtlander_offiziell 40mm f/1.2 pretty much all shot at 1.2.

Filter: @polarpro @shortstache everyday cpl and 1/2 mist.

The sheer size/heft of the EVO 35mm compared to my current 40mm f/2

This is not my first 35mm. I rented the Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 for professional job and this EVO felt much sturdier and more premium. The TTartisan 40mm has been on my Zf since the first moment I got it. Cant wait to try out the EVO.

P/s: despite the chonkiness the weight is somewhat…fine? I was expecting way more front biased heaviness but thats not really the case here. Should i post a review/comparison later?

Battle of the 40mm lenses! 5 of the top options compared for Z

https://www.scotttuckerphoto.com/blog/battle-of-the-40mm-lenses-for-nikon-z

Have wrapped up my last month's worth of work comparing the following lenses:

Voigtlander 40/2 Septon for Z
Voigtlander 40/1.2 Nokton for Z
Voigtlander 40/2 Ultron for F
TTArtisan 40/2 for Z
Nikon 40/2 for Z

I've been a long time owner of the Ultron, TTA, and Nikon, and got the chance to borrow the Septon and Nokton for the last month. I conducted A/B style testing and have hopefully put together a very thorough examination of what makes each of these lenses unique and why you'd consider each of them for use on Nikon Z.

Note: the Ultron is the older F mount pancake style, not what you'd find for sale currently. That newer lens is nearly twice the size and weight. You'd have to scrounge Ebay for the pancake.

Here's a teaser of how I rank these lenses, but there's so much more to say and show about the nuances. Hope you enjoy the video!

These are not good photos but it sure was fun to take them

I tried a bunch of used models in search of the feeling as I remember it with my grandfather's mamiya sekor twenty years ago (at which time the camera was itself already forty years old).

The zf really nails that feeling like nothing else. It keeps all the joy and magic and loses all of the clunk I either forgot about or was too excited to notice back then. It's a hoot with a voigtlander and a beast with a Nikkor S.

I guess I should learn all the digital stuff like Lightroom and autofocus and recipes etc but for now just trying to see if I can find the eye I used to think I have (I think that was also colored by nostalgia though, and now I just have a better idea how not good I am). And why bog myself down when it's this enjoyable to get bad ones?

Lakeside summer vibes with my Zf

Hanging out at the lake with my Zf and decided to bring my kids. All shot with the 40 f2 SE and a K&F Concepts 1/4 mist filter

First couple frames are a custom recipe I'm playing with and the rest are a kodachrome recipe that a friend shared with me from a random Dropbox. I think it may have been from a post that was made here in this sub
