Melissa Clark’s Chicken Thighs with Brown Butter Corn
One of my go-to summer recipes. I add sliced serranos for heat.

Wushiland Boba, Qamaria Yemeni Coffee, & Da Vien Vietnamese Coffee are all coming to Torrance!
When I’m bored I like to check out who has applied for building permits in the city (https://torranceca.maps.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/57ba9b2cd125495889246b5492d7a782#) and I am personally pretty excited to learn that these three cafes will be opening here as I go to their other locations around LA/OC quite often:
Wushiland Boba will be at 4330 PCH, next to Kitakata Ramen.
Qamaria Yemeni Coffee will be at 17410 Hawthorne Blvd, next to Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Da Vien Coffee will be at 2390 Crenshaw Blvd, by Bruster’s Ice Cream. They just opened a location in Gardena, but it’ll be nice having one in Torrance too.
Warabimochi Kamakura Torrance Grand Opening on 07/17/26.
Warabimochi Kamakura which has a location at the Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia and multiple locations in Japan and the rest of East and Southeast Asia will be opening a location in Torrance. I initially thought they were going inside Del Amo when I first heard the news but looks like they’ll actually be in Torrance Crossroads where Old Ferry Donut used to be. I really like their style of mochi so I’m personally very happy. Hope they do well, but that location worries me a bit.

NEW PEOPLE: YES, THOSE ARE FIREWORKS. YES, YOU WILL HEAR THEM FOR ANOTHER COUPLE OF MONTHS OR SO. YES, AT 2 IN THE AFTERNOON OR EVEN 3 IN THE MORNING. THIS IS LA. THIS IS HOW IT’S ALWAYS BEEN AND HOW IT ALWAYS WILL BE.
reddit.comWhat’s Going Next Door To The Future Prime Pizza?
This entire time I was under the impression that Prime Pizza will be taking over the entire building that used to be Seaside Palace (3720 Sepulveda Blvd), but it’s actually only taking over half of it. I peeked in through the windows today, and it looks like the part on the right side of the building is going to be a separate establishment that kinda looks like it might be a coffee shop or something like that. Anyone know what’s going there?
Daikokuya Ramen Coming To Torrance
A location of Daikokuya will be opening where Torrance Yokocho used to be inside Rolling Hills Plaza. I personally would have been more excited about this like 10 years ago, but ymmv. Soft opening is on June 23rd at 5pm.
The chemical that nearly exploded in Garden Grove is stored across California (including Torrance)
Arkema Coating Resins Plant on Hawthorne Blvd.
One vacant building in Torrance down, five hundred more to go.
Happy to see this. I always hoped we’d get one since it opened in the Santa Anita Mall. Not sure where the Torrance location will be though.
