Racist dudes at Wilson Park Tennis court, beware

Not my video, but showed up on my feed. sharing for visibility. Girl gets harassed by a bunch of white guys on a tennis court and gets called a “crazy asian”

EDIT: If you wanna see a some defensive people, scroll down to the downvoted comments and you’ll see people swearing up and down that the person who took the video deserves it, that “Crazy Asian” is innocuous, or claiming that this is not illegal so therefore it is not racist (??)

Millionaires trying to buy Torrance election

Right wing groups and corporations are trying to buy Torrance campaigns. Instead of talking to the community, they are sending you junk mail hoping they can buy your vote. Don’t let them. Torrance is not for sale.

Anyone know a no-spray farmer who delivers or has local pickup?

Trying to get off grocery store produce and source straight from a grower. Most everything I see are just CSA aggregators taking a cut.

Looking for a farmer with real produce, no sprays (no pesticides/herbicides/fungicides) uncertified is fine,. Manure and compost are fine so I'm NOT looking for veganic, just no-spray. Weekly deliveries would be the dream, or a pickup within 15–20 min.

There has to be someone that does this, right?

Hello, I’m the moderator for r/torrance

Hey everyone,

I wanted to address a recent post that accused me of deleting political and real estate posts on this subreddit. I want to be completely clear: I have not deleted any posts related to those topics, and I try my best to moderate fairly and equally for everyone regardless of opinions or viewpoints.

The original user ended up deleting their own post after I reached out to them to discuss the situation. Unfortunately, before that happened, the accusation gained a lot of traction and many people immediately assumed it was true. And now, probably assume that I deleted that post too.

Honestly, that was disappointing to see.

If anyone ever has concerns about moderation decisions, I’m always open to respectful conversation and clarification. I’d rather address issues directly than have misinformation spread unchecked. If anyone is interested in helping me moderate this subreddit I am all for it.

Thanks to everyone who continues contributing positively to the community.

new friends?

hello! my name is nathan and i’m 22 years old- apologies if this is against the rules or seen as the wrong place to post. i’m sorta at my last resort here and am hoping i can better meet my neighbors.

i’ve been living here on and off for a few years (due to medical complications i’ve had to relocate quite a few times); making friends / managing a social life has been a really difficult struggle for me since i can’t hold down a job or stay in one spot long enough to enroll at el camino, again… so im kinda here to seek some friends out / hopefully make a digital connection to someone i could maybe play video games with or just chat with about the city we both live in or something.

in recent years ive been having trouble with communicating due to hearing loss i’ve endured due to my chronic illness and unfortunately have no one to learn ASL with / teach me, so maybe i could find someone interested in that as well(🤞).

thank you and i hope everyone is having a wonderful evening.

Torrance Subreddit Mods Censoring Posts

Mods are removing some political posts & anything that might put Torrance in a bad light. A recent post about the major flood of 1956 was taken down for no reason along with one from the other day about voting out Chen. This post will almost certainly get taken down, too, but hopefully it'll be up for a while so that redditors will understand this is happening.

Protest road closure?

Does anyone know what the road closure near Torrance blvd and Madrona is about. They closed off the street and people had signs but I couldn't see what it was since they had city buses acting as a blockade.

Looking to buy a SFH in Torrance. I'm trying to figure out what would be a safe % of the home to assume for house insurance to calculate my PITI.

I am better at a niche variant than anyone else living in Torrance

King of the hill chess is just like regular chess but if you get your king to the middle you win instantly. On the chess website where I play I am about top 100 player in the world.

What is something you are better at than everyone else in Torrance?

Talking Business - Part 2

I’m David Kartsonis and this is part two of a video about how the last four years in Torrance have damaged our local economy. I’m here in front of the vacant building that used to be Sony Honda Mobility - also known as Afeela. My opponent calls this his largest achievement, but this businesses and those like this don’t make any sense for Torrance. Sony Honda Mobility was open here for literally just a few days before closing and leaving our city with nothing to show for it. If it had stayed open, it would have brought us negligible revenue due to the way distribution centers are taxed. Let’s talk about Friendship Cities and how converting Torrance to be a “Micro-nation” is leading us to have a “micro-economy.” If you watched my last video, you know I was endorsed by BizFedPAC. Bizfed represents 420,000 employers in Southern California. You also learned why people are calling our Torrance economy stagnant at best and failing at worst. What’s the cause? In short - the Friendship Cities Program backed by my opponent Jon Kaji.

This program started 4 years ago when my opponent took office. The first Friendship City was - unsurprisingly enough, our Mayor’s hometown. This program has ballooned to costing residents hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund all expense paid city council international trips. As a result of all this investment, Torrance has seen $0 in return and 0 new businesses. The biggest benefit being touted for this program is that it will allow the taxpayers of the City of Torrance to subsidize the Taiwanese national team when they’re in LA for the 28 Olympics.

Now, if this all sounds bad, we haven’t gotten to the bad part yet. The bad part is how many of our city staff members - especially those in the Economic Development department have been repurposed to serve as essentially glorified travel agents for some of our Councilmembers. This is where Torrance really is impacted. When our Economic Development Department isn’t doing economic development, Torrance loses. We lose businesses, we lose jobs, and we lose revenue. Most people estimate that Torrance has lost millions of dollars in revenue due to this disastrous economic development policy. After the last report of the failings of friendship cities, my opponent decided to double down and increased their travel budget by $70,000! Worst of all, those $70,000 in Friendship travel funds don’t even need to be used on approved Friendship Cities. This is the definition of a Council slush fund where they are able to use those funds to travel anywhere in the world with no justification required.

We’re at a point now where sales tax is no longer funding our city services, but instead the property taxes of our residents. We need to reverse that trend.

It’s time to put to an end this self serving program and get Torrance back to being a leader in the business community.

Looking for something to do.

Hey all. So I just turned 40 and am going through some life changes lately. Most of my support system is pretty far away. I've lived here for a few years now but I'm still having trouble connecting and honestly the isolation is starting to get to me. I'm basically looking for something and some people to take my mind off of things. Some things I enjoy are reading, watching movies, D&D, and Switch games.

Kinda in a weird mental health place right now and it was suggested to me to try and go out and meet some people, so I figured Reddit was the place to start.

Aircraft Moving on Hawthorne

Doubt anyone has any answers but still worth a shot. Anyone have an idea as to why/where/what TPD was moving northbound on Hawthorne at around 10:45pm tonight? Appeared to be some kind of military? aircraft, maybe from the museum is my best guess. Saw around 6-7 explorers + a couple motor officers in the escort.

EDIT: Nevermind, did a bit more digging and found out that the TPD is transporting it from the Zamperini Airfield out to somewhere for the Memorial Day parade. Will leave post up as information.

Places to go out?

What are some fun activities that you do around here? Need to know because for me it’s always just going out to eat, going to the beach, going to the farmers market, or just going to Del Amo mall. I want some new activities to do with my friends and family. Let me know!

Be careful at Charles Park

I went to the Torrance farmers market today located at Charles H. Wilson park at around 1pm. After doing some shopping my husband and I decided to take a nice walk around the park. We ended up at the workout machines and started to play around the with the machines, low and behold behind a tree there is a GROWN MAN JERKING OFF!! He ran away the moment I told my husband. Please be careful around there! I couldn’t see his face but he was an older man wearing black dress pants, a blue button up and a beige baseball hat.
