Haircuts?

Hello! I have a fantastic colorist that I love but she’s not really into the whole haircutting thing. Any recommendations out there for someone who does like really piece-y blade-cut layers for long (ladies’) hair? I’ve tried a handful of folks but haven’t been blown away. Thank you!

Home Break In

I know this is a long shot but this fine gentleman rang my ring camera doorbell this morning at 5am. He then proceeded to break into my garage and steal around $1k worth of tools and a bottle of tequila of course. This occurred near the corner of maple and Torrance. He was dragging around a yellow DeWalt pressure washer that he probably stole from another house. I also have him trying to open parked car doors on the street from my front floodlight camera. Any info would be great. Happy fourth!

4Th of July fireworks at LA Galaxy sports complex

i’ve lived in Torrance most of my life, but I have never attended the fireworks in person. In the past, they did it at Wilson Park and I could see it from my house.

I have a friend coming in from out of town who wants to see the fireworks as well as the performance with the Satin Dollz. If we want to see both, how early should we get to the area?

I think the festivities start at 6 PM, but I think the dolls don’t come on until 7pm.
Has anyone had any experience with this?

Bike routes from Old Torrance?

Hi all. Moved to Old Torrance (near Beech Ave/Sonoma St) and looking for some solid bike routes in the area.

Any recommendations for routes that head toward PV, the beach, or just around South Bay that avoid the main busy roads when possible? Google Maps isn’t always great for picking lower-traffic or more scenic routes, so figured I’d ask here.

Thanks.

Torrance 4th of July Fireworks

If we can’t make it into the Main viewing areas due to crowds, are there any alternative places where you can watch them from?

Restaurant suggestions?

My birthday is soon and I'm trying to find a new place to go in the south bay or into west la. We're not very adventurous eaters really, so something with burgers, sandwiches, salad, pizza, etc. would be great. Anywhere you all like? Thanks.

Dash cam footage for car accident 6/20 at 4pm

Hi everyone, I know this is a shot in the dark but my dad and his girlfriend got into a horrible accident on 6/20 Saturday at about 4pm.

It was exit 39 Torrance on the 405 north. Someone rammed their black Lexus 300 into the carpool divider, he pulled over and then drove off.

The car looked like an El Camino white with some blue or green on the main body.

It was a hit and run, we are dealing with the insurance but her car is totaled and they’re both injured. If anyone has footage or dash cam, that would be amazing. Please reach out. Thank you so much for your time and reading.

Single mother looking for a home

Hello everyone,

I hope this post is okay to share. I’ve gone back and forth about posting because asking for help is difficult, but as a mother, I’m willing to try every avenue for my children.

I am a newly divorced mother of two beautiful little ones, ages 3 and 5. Since separating from my ex-husband nearly three years ago, life has been incredibly challenging. Through it all, God has carried us day by day, and I’m deeply grateful for the village that has surrounded us with love and support.

***I am currently working full-time and do everything I can to provide for my babies. Right now, the three of us are sharing a single room in the home of my children’s godparents, who have graciously taken us in. I receive no financial or physical support from my ex-husband beyond the court-ordered every-other-weekend visitation.

Until February 2025, I had always managed to keep a home of our own after our separation in September 2023. But after 19 months of unemployment and a significant rent increase that made renewing our lease impossible, I had no choice but to move in with friends. I have been employed with my current job since August 2025, but the pay is low (I needed income no matter how much) and I am doing everything to get back to where I was.

I have a bachelor's degree and more than ten years of experience as a high-level administrator. I’ve worked in several industries, including engineering and healthcare, and I have attended well over 100 interviews. I continue to interview regularly and remain hopeful, but the job market has been incredibly competitive. While I’m not angry, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t discouraged.

After paying for my car, insurance, daycare copays, gas, groceries, and credit card obligations, there is very little left each month. The hardest part is watching my children struggle. The three of us share one full-size bed, and my 3-year-old has begun having behavioral issues at school due to lack of sleep. We've tried air mattresses, but at their ages, they still need their mom close by. They deserve room to play, sleep peacefully, and simply be children.

It has been a year and a half of living this way, and there have been many tears and sleepless nights. I never imagined we would still be here this long. I’m incredibly thankful for the love and generosity of our friends, but I long for a small space where my children can have stability and where we can all finally rest.

I am also on the waitlist for employment with Torrance Unified School District after successfully passing the exam and interview process. I continue applying for jobs and interviewing, trusting that God will open the right door in His timing.

I know this is a long shot, but I’m reaching out to ask if anyone knows of a guest house or affordable rental that might be available for a single mother and her two young children. I can’t afford much right now, but I am a hard worker, I pay my bills, and I am doing everything I can to create a better future for my babies.

More than anything, I just want a safe place for my children to sleep, grow, and feel at home again.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your prayers, and for any leads or kindness you may be able to offer.

Blessings,
T.M.

Is SoCal Edison actually replacing electricity meters in Torrance?

Got a flyer on my doorknob saying I need to leave the gate open so they can come and replace the meter. Has anyone else had this? SCE and no one on the other end had the slightest clue what I was talking about.

Comments on the Ted Tanouye Memorial Proposals

There has been a great deal of discussion in the city of Torrance about renaming Columbia Park after Torrance's hometown hero, Ted Tanouye.

Initially, I was all for it. He showed great bravery and honor for our country, even though the federal government had interned his family along with 120,000 Japanese-Americans during World War II.

That selfless service deserves great honor.

The city has released a survey for residents to share their thoughts and vote for possible preferences to honor Tanouye. (Click here)

Some arguments and opposition have emerged in the city regarding whether ...

What’s Going Next Door To The Future Prime Pizza?

This entire time I was under the impression that Prime Pizza will be taking over the entire building that used to be Seaside Palace (3720 Sepulveda Blvd), but it’s actually only taking over half of it. I peeked in through the windows today, and it looks like the part on the right side of the building is going to be a separate establishment that kinda looks like it might be a coffee shop or something like that. Anyone know what’s going there?

Suits knocking on door

A while back I had someone drive up to the front door on a hoverboard and started knocking aggressively. I ignored it. Yesterday, two people in suits knocking on the door also on hoverboards. I thought maybe they were Mormons or JW (I used to get a lot of them in my old neighborhood) but they were knocking so aggressively like the last person that came. Does anyone know wtf is going on?
