BLEEM is my grandmother

I’m so grateful to have BLEEM as my grandmother, who knits me sweaters every month and bakes me cookies and pats my little head and tells me that I’m a good little boy or a girl.

It’s so wonderful that I can just put on the Tide and Oreo CEO videos and that listening to BLEEM scream obscenities puts me right to sleep.

A couple of photos of the partial solar eclipse

I didn’t have eclipse glasses, and these were the best that I got out of the 40 or so rapid fire pictures I took of the sun. I did slap a polarization filter on the end of my lens and turned live mode on my DSLR on, so I wasn’t looking through the viewfinder, just at my camera screen, which on the Nikon D7500 is moveable.

When we had the total eclipse a few years ago, I had eclipse glasses then, but I didn’t know that eclipse glasses expire. And mine expired.

These were taken just after totality, around 3:05 PM.

Partial Solar Eclipse - August 12

There’s a total solar eclipse that’s happening on August 12 over Greenland, Iceland, Spain, and Portugal, but we should be able to see a partial solar eclipse here.

According to this site, we should be at the totality of it around 2:56 in the afternoon on the 12th.

There’s also going to be a partial lunar eclipse happening on August 28. We should reach totality for that around 1:12 in the morning.

Sterling silver jewelry repair

Hey all,

My wedding band just snapped, and I’m wondering if anyone can recommend someone who will repair sterling silver jewelry without sending it off island. I’ve never had to get jewelry repaired before.

I would send it back to the designer, but they’re in the US.

Preferably in and around Charlottetown.

2026 Emancipation Day event - August 1 in Charlottetown

This looks like a really interesting free event, and there’s gonna be music! And vendors!

For those who aren’t aware, in 2021, August 1 was designated by the Canadian government as Emancipation Day. it marks the day that the Slavery Abolition Act took effect in Britain and its colonies in 1834.

Cheap and free things to do in Charlottetown

So, I’m a local who is very much a homebody.

My sibling may be coming to visit next week, and I’m trying to rack my brain for cheap and free things to do in town so that while they are here, we’re not breaking the bank. They are already spending enough on hotel.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I know there are some pride events going on, which will probably be on the list. Obviously, spending a lot of time outside, going to Victoria Park, going to the waterfront, all of that jazz. But I’m also trying to think of other inexpensive, cultural things that we can do together.

I have checked the Discover Charlottetown website, and I’ve checked a couple of other websites that advertise free events. I’ve also checked the buzz, and have a couple ideas from there. I’m just looking that if anybody else has other suggestions that would not be included in any of those options. I like to do my research, but I also don’t like to miss out on things that aren’t advertised in those places.

If anyone has any fun suggestions, I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

Magic Presents: Pride

Magic Presents Pride is happening tomorrow at Exor Games starting at 6 PM. It’s their regular commander night, so it’s a commander event.

And for those who were asking, I spoke to my friend who ran the women and LGBTQ+ event last month, and they are trying to find the next night to hold it.

Ladies Commander Night at Exor Tonight.

This is an event for women and LGBTQIA+ identified individuals who would normally feel uncomfortable playing in male dominated spaces.

If you play Magic the Gathering Commander, or have been interested and just felt intimidated, this is a new event that’s being run by a friend of mine.
