Lifestyle in attending-hood

For those who have reached the attending stage with their med spouse, how much did the attending pay change your lives and what does your lifestyle look like now?

Everything is so expensive these days that I think it is hard for my partner(PGY3) and I to imagine what life will be like on the other side of residency.

Renting vs. buying after residency

I was talking with my PGY3 resident partner about what we should do for housing when he finishes residency. His feeling is that rent is throwing money away(I think he is just tired of renting and wants to feel like his money is going toward something he owns), but we both acknowledge that buying a house is expensive and may not be possible right after his residency ends.

I, on the other hand, think renting for a couple years post-residency while saving for a house we really want makes the most sense for us. We currently rent and still have time to plan. Exploring our options.

For those that have been through this decision or are going through it, what is your experience? Any regrets either way? We will, of course, be looking at our own finances, reassessing after he accepts an attending position, and reviewing the housing market.
Just want to hear from others!

Inflammatory acne

Anyone know of a stack or individual compound that would be helpful for stress-induced inflammatory acne?

I know I obviously need to address the stress component itself. I’m in a demanding school program until next year, so I know I won’t be able to get that fully under control before graduation. I’ve already tried most acne treatments from my derm with no long term success.

I’m 30F for reference.

Aesthetic/plastics nurses in Cincy area

Can any nurses familiar with the aesthetic and/or plastic surgery areas of nursing offer advice to a new nurse who is interested in breaking into that field?

I’ve been advised by some RNs and NPs in the industry to seek out externships as I finish nursing school and to apply for positions in the OR after graduating to make some connections. Most everyone I’ve talked to started in other areas before transitioning to aesthetics full time, so I understand I will likely need to gain experience somewhere else first.

Appreciate any and all advice or insights!
