Unusual GI Distress
I am on my 2nd vial for research and I have come to expect 24-48 hours of GI distress after pinning. I didn’t feel I could titrate up any higher at this time so I kept the dose at 1.5 last Friday night and I'm here to report that I was absolutely incapacitated all weekend. Sharp gut pain and cramping and let's just say that if I were scheduled for a colonoscopy on Monday, I wouldn't need the prep.
Apparently, 24% of Reta researchers experience significant diarrhea and I felt this was solely responsible for any weight loss to date.
I discovered some good news, though. This symptom peaks especially at weeks 7 and 8 and resolves by week 12 for most. Although I am unaware that I have gut issues like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, it is possible that is responsible for my more extreme reaction.
Three specific mechanisms contribute to Retatrutide-associated diarrhea.
- Delayed gastric emptying can cause a bolus effect where food moves rapidly through the intestines once it finally leaves the stomach.
- Altered bile acid metabolism affects fat digestion and can trigger loose stools.
- Increased intestinal fluid secretion from GLP-1 receptor activation adds water content to stool.
Also, stress can ramp trigger even more of these symptoms.
I was ready to give up on this peptide, but I was cheered by this statement: the single most important predictor of success is knowing that weeks 7 and 8 represent the peak. Users who understand this timeline push through. Those who expect immediate resolution often quit during the hardest weeks, missing out on the dramatic improvements that follow.
Looking forward to this dramatic improvement with a more informed mindset and the comfort of knowing I'm among the 24%.
