What crawled out from under this??

I am at work and moved this foot rest under my desk when all of a sudden some large insect comes crawling out! It was too dark under my desk to see it clearly, but it looked like the size of a quarter and was brown from what I could tell. I then flipped the foot rest over and found this possible web? Thinking this insect could have made this? Anyway, curious if anyone has ideas of what it could be! I tried to look for it, but it has crawled away to some other part of my office and I can’t find it. I am located in Connecticut!

Random and recurring blotches?

Anyone else have a random red spot/blotch/patch on a part of their body, and that same spot randomly flared up/gets redder/gets itchy/etc.? This spot on my left hand has always been pronounced but becomes darker sometimes. Always this spot, never changes placement on my hand. I have a similar few spots of dry patchy eczema on other parts of my body that do the same. Wondering if anyone else has experience something like this!

Saying goodbye to our 19-year-old sweet girl on Friday.

Coming here for comfort. I just made an appointment for our 19-year-old girl, Lucy. She is the sweetest girl. She developed pretty severe arthritis, and although the injections have been helping with pain, I watched her fall down the stairs this morning, and she’s recently been having trouble getting up on the couch. She has been on medication for hyperthyroidism and has had a chronic upper respiratory infection which have both been difficult to manage.

I asked our vet when she thought it would be time, and I got a super invalidating response of “well, she’s eating and drinking still so…” but I see Lucy every day and I’m the one who has seen her decline. How much longer can I wait? For things to get so much worse that it’s obvious she needs to be put down? Of course this is the most difficult decision I will ever have to make, but getting that response from the vet makes me feel like I am making this decision prematurely. Friends and family have helped validate the decision, but it still feels like there will never be the “right” time. My goodness I’m going to miss her.

Anyway, thank you for sharing.

Why are my tomato plants yellowing??

I planted these a few weeks ago after my dad grew them from seed. I water them, they get sunlight (NE facing), and I thought I put them in decent sized pots with an average type soil (maybe not the highest quality). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Happy to provide more info too!
