Anyone here taking stimulants and had issues with bone fracture healing?

I am two weeks post op from ORIF surgery to fix some extensive fractures in my wrist. I have two plates, some screws and a bone graft. After finding out, (2 weeks too late) that ibuprofen may impact bone growth I decided to look into what the science says about adhd meds. All of the studies were done with children but it still seems concerning to me. I plan to research more after work.

Spoiler alert, it's not good. Some studies show it slow fracture healing by up to 20% and other studies that consistent use of stimulants depletes bone density, some studies show significant none density loss.

Has anyone here had problems healing a fracture? I plan to mention this to my surgeon on Tuesday.

Has anyone ever displaced their plates, screws, or wires before your 2 week post op appointment?

I'm just almost 2 weeks post op from my surgery and I'm so anxious for my post op appointment on Tuesday. I had a pretty significant fracture of my distal radius that needed a bone graft and a much less severe one on my distal ulnar shaft. I've been having some nerve pain and mild numbness but it's not affecting the movement of my fingers at the moment. I also injured my pronator quadratus muscle pretty badly. My surgeon had to remove shards of bone from the muscle. I'm really hoping that this muscle injury is causing the pain I get towards the end of my day. It's deep painful ache that only seems to happen at the end of my day or if I spend too much time out of the sling. If I get decent sleep which I usually do I wake up feeling pretty good. I haven't done anything I shouldn't and haven't had any falls or injuries at all since.

Just anxious clutz terrified I'll need another surgery. I imagine the plates and screws are fairly strong and I would hope it would take a noticeable amount of force to displace something.

Nerve pain 8 days post op. Ulna and radius ORIF

Hey y'all. I already called my surgeon to move my post op appointment a couple days sooner. I go to see her on the 7th. I'm 8 days post of from an extensive ORIF for my left radius and ulna. My surgery was 4½ hours. "Distal radius fracture with significant comminution in the metaphysis intra-articular extension displacement. Ulnar diaphysis fracture of the distal aspect of the ulna" is what my report said. I had plates placed on both bones through two seperate incisions along with screws. I also had bone graph placed to help the smaller pieces heal.

I was just starting to feel good. My pain was decreasing and my fingers were feeling good with the ROM practice for my fingers. Over the last 24-36hrs nerve pain has been increasingly worse. I feel it the most in the heel of my hand, my pinky, ring finger and sometimes in my thumb. Has anyone dealt with this? Did it get better once the cast from surgery is off? I worried that need a carpel tunnel release after this.

Again, I did reach out to my surgeon but I just wanted to ask if anyone had this resolve on its own with time and just eondeting if theres anything I can do relieve it in the mean time.

Question about recent ORIF

The first 2 are from the night of the fracture (6/13) and the third is the from the day before surgery (6/24)

Hey! I have a few questions. I had an ORIF to repair a distal radius and ulna fracture. Both were fixed with a plate and locking screws. I'm currently 7 days post op. I was instructed to do gentle fingers ROM/curls prevents stiffness when I was discharged. Post op follow is 7/10

(Due to anesthesia I have no recollection of seeing my surgeon post op but I know she came in because she briefly explained it to my mom who was in recovery with me)

Generally how sturdy are the initial repairs? What would it take to displace it? Would it take something like another fall to displace it or could something small do it? What type of symptoms would indicate it being displaced? I'm honestly just worried if my 6 year old bumps or knocks fingers that it will damage the repair and need to be re done. I havent attempted to bear weight on it or anything like that. I honestly just have terrible health anxiety about needing another surgery.

Also, she said she needed to use a bone graft which we didn't talk about pre op. Is there anything I should know about the graph? Is there a chance it can "fail" or "not take"? Any special considerations for healing? This is what she said in her operative report "I was able to get good fixation and had improved the tilt and alignment i was happy with the overall reduction. Then I used bone graft to fill in that large metaphyseal void to help support the fragments and also help it heal faster." The report mentioned about a centemeter of missing bone.

Im just so scared to screw this up even worse. 😖

Post op depression

Hey y'all. I'm 4 days post op from surgery on my wrist to fix my fractured wrist. I shattered it when I fell backwards and caught myself with my left hand. I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone else dealt with depression after being under anesthesia. My surgery was long, it took like 3½-4 hrs. My nerve block finally wore off thank god. That was the most uncomfortable/painful thing so far. I really wish I declined nerve block. Now that I have feeling and full movement back my pain is very minimal but I woke up so incredibly down today. I had tears in my eyes as soon as I woke up pretty much. I haven't been able to stop crying. I don't t really know what I'm looking for in writing this post. Just looking to hear others experiences. My arm and hand feel the best they have since I broke it yet I'm so teary and feel so down today.
