PSA: Animal Genders

Just dropping this here for newer players as it was something I couldn’t really find online and I thought I was going crazy

Animal gender naming is not consistent, which can make stealing animals to populate your ranch a tad confusing.

Cows:

- Female: Dairy Cow

- Male: Bull

*WILD COWS CANNOT BE TAMED

Chickens:

- Female: Hen

- Male: Rooster

Sheep:

- Female: Female Sheep

- Male: Sheep

Pigs:

- Female: Female Pig

- Male: Pig

*I did not find a single female pig to steal in nearby farms making me thing they did not exist. But got them from buying piglets from Ben in camp.

Goat

- Female: Female Goat

- Male: Goat

Just a heads up in case anyone else is wondering. Feedback for the devs: Would be great if the naming was more technical: like using “sow” for female pigs, “buck” for male goats, “ram” and “ewe” for male and female sheep respectively.

It was really fun going back after almost 10 years since my last playthrough. It was immediately apparent how much more developed the ship combat was compared to current windrose.

But the thing is, even with Resynced coming up I know it’s still gonna be tied down by being an AC game and being made by Ubisoft. Windrose on the other hand is made by devs that actually give a dam about making an awesome pirate game the players have been wanting for all these years.

Yeah, the ship combat is super barebones, but experiencing all the cool stuff in Naval combat that make it awesome in black flag made me realize how much more they can and probably will add to windrose in time; and excited to see how the implement it. The swivel gun, bracing damage, water spouts, mortars, heavy shots, dynamic waves, wind drift, all do add a lot.

But I’m sure given how they have already been so responsive to feedback in this first month of release, windrose is gonna add all these features and more to the game overtime. Plus experiencing the melee combat in ACBF made me realize how much I appreciated windroses challenging combat (that is also gonna improve overtime).

All in all ACBF is still the game that made many of us fall in love with pirate games in the first place, but windrose is the future and I’m all here for it.

Absolutely loving the game so far, so just posting this suggestion here in case the devs see it and just to hear people’s thoughts if they feel the same way.

I’m currently on chapter 3 on generally a saber/pistol set up. The ammo usage feels pretty reasonable, I need to farm a bit to use bullets stress free, but as long as I keep it as a side arm and use the pistol sparingly I feel the ammo system is pretty fair.

But anytime I try to go a more ranged focused build it just becomes a grind. Every 2 hours of play needs an hour of grinding materials (not to mention the scarcity gets worse with even more players on the server). Maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it generally feels bad and wasteful to go ranged builds.

I know there are probably mods that remove/reduce ammo cost. But given that the windrose devs seems pretty open to making QOL stuff built in rather than modded, I do think there’s a pretty simple solution here. Just give us a gunpowder/bullet discount talent on the range tree. If I’m to guess many people don’t go down that tree for the reasons I highlighted above and just play melee to not have to continuously grind bullets.

And they can make it interactive and skill/build based. Maybe make headshots/crits cost no bullets, give a percentage chance to refund for consecutive shots, there’s really a lot they can do here. That way ammo doesn’t become a dead resource while not being so tedious for player that’s wanna play around with a musket or blunderbuss. Thoughts?
