Hi everyone. Just figured I would update you all on the Kagekiyo Grey Dye B1D. I am currently moving, so this is going to have to be a shorter post.

I am now beginning to see how the factory etch, or dye, is fading away— allowing for the Damascus pattern to pop a bit more.

Every time I use this knife I am reminded that it has no equal— it is absolutely phenomenal.

There doesn’t seem to be much readily available information on the Grey Dye, so if anybody else owns it and would be willing to share pictures of the patina progression I would really appreciate it.

I’ll make sure to continue posting pictures of the knife so that we have more visual information to draw from in future discussions of this knife.

Hope you are all doing well! Attached pictures at the end of when the knife was brand new. It probably has around 15-20 cooking sessions under its belt now, and it has prepped everything from veg to protein, fruits, etc.

Hello again everybody! I am moving out and oficially beginning my life in NYC. My sublease just ended, and since I am moving into a new apartment I figured I would thin the collection. Hey everyone! Wanted to update everyone on my backpiece by Horikashi. Still trying to decide whether to go all the way with the bodysuit or stopping with the back. I absolutely love Horikashi-- we have become good acquaintances over the years. Travelling to Japan to get work done is a bit tricky though... which is what gives me pause in regards to going with the full suit. I want to say this is somewhere north of 50 hours.

Hello TCKbst! I am looking to move these two Gyutos due to the realities of moving to NYC. It seems I underestimated just how expensive this city.

Apart from selling these knives because NYC is ridiculously expensive, I am also selling because something of note occurred to the BY.

A person very dear to me mistook the patina that the knife had and decided to apply Barkeeper’s Friend. I have decided to sell the knife because I love this person, but every time I see the knife I am reminded of this incident and I would rather move it on. There is no structural damage, or deep scratches to the knife. Everything pictured is cosmetic— there are no changes to the geometry of the knife (they used a towel when using BKF). You can view my profile history to see the patina it was building— I only used it to cut a chicken breast, and three steaks with mushrooms. No sharpening or leather strop. Phenomenal cutter— it weighs around 190g if I am not mistaken.

As for the Wakui— it really is a beauty and a gem which I should not be selling.. but NYC is NYC. I actually just bought it from a phenomenal user from TrueChefKnives.

Just trying to minimize my losses here— feel free to send offers. This is my first time selling g here, but I have 20+ transactions on r/mangaswap.
