Revered Brother Ulysses

Revered Brother Ulysses, entombed in a Brutalis chassis Dreadnought. Once a brilliant tactician and one of the best melee duelists and breachers the Raptors had. After silencing one too many bloodthirsty commissars and inquisitors, he was forced to take up the status of Black Shield in the deathwatch. What was just a regular suicide mission to establish an uplink in the midst of a Chaos invasion he successfully fought and secured the station only to realize he signed his own doom, artillery came crashing down all around. He called in a bombardment that’d wipe the enemies and him along with it unknowingly. Miraculously and unfortunately he survived, the Inquisition saw fit to scramble his already broken and battered mind, fracturing his psyche and stuffing him into a machine that’d make sure he stayed that way. Given back to his chapter as ‘insurance’ he now fulfills that roll of a master line breaker though, now brutal and unrelenting fury rather than his cold calculated past self. A ghost in the shell that his captain, once former pupil of Ulysses, is forced to witness with every deployment.

Phew. This guy was BRUTAL to work on (pun intended) from the build to the painting and detail work, it took longer than I thought but I couldn’t be happier with the results. The Brutalis is arguably the least raptory dreadnought and that’s why I think it makes the best one. What better to work with a bunch of fast stealthy units than a giant agro farming behemoth who crunches and melts anything he touches. I’d love to hear thoughts if you have em! On his lore or painting!

Brutalis Dread

This is a huge task that I’m tackling bit by bit but my sponge chipping recipe worked out great. Still gotta do the back and the arms and a ton of detail work but it’s already looking great. I’ve got tons of lore cooked up for this behemoth already and can’t wait to share the final product.

New Land Speeder

This thing was MADE for the Raptors so it was the first thing I painted out of the box and wowie it’s gorgeous and sounds super strong too. Sponging is a lifesaver. Absolutely butchered the thrusters but oh well nobody sees it much anyway.

Land Speeder finished!

This thing is so unbelievably beautiful, easily one of the best things to come out of the space marine half of the Armageddon box.

Land Speeder Progress

Sponging makes vehicles a cake walk. Got a lot of touch ups, still some buttons to paint, the underside of the metal bits, but the chassis is just mwah worthy off the bat. Can’t wait to use this thing for some nasty strafing runs on the tabletop.

Lieutenant Ismael Gueriss

I needed a leader for my Bladeguard stack I plan on using in my Vanguard Spearhead army so I naturally needed another lieutenant. In my little headcanon lore he’s the newest Lieutenant and is subject to some pretty lofty expectations likey driven by the fact this young hotshot really reminds the captain of his former mentor. Doesn’t help the fact he was given his mentors old shield (hence why the name parchment is blank)

The Second Company Trio

My little headcanon of leaders for my Second Company army are finally complete. Captain Vhanic in the middle, the silent watchful shadow. Leading the standard intercessor battle brothers and the less experienced troops to make sure they make it out alive and learn valuable experience. Lieutenant Thrane on the left, the heavy weapons and breacher specialist. Guiding the Eradicators and delivering maximum lethality and violence to the enemy’s weakest flanks and key targets. And Lieutenant Kael on the right, the apex predator and guerrilla hunter. Obviously the lone wolf.

I’m just way too happy with how these came out. Next is their company’s dreadnought which is a bit daunting but I’m excited to build it and share more.

Kitbashed Gravis “Lieutenant”

I’m a tad late but in honor of our some of our companies being deployed to Armageddon, I decided to dedicate the last leader unit to the theme and made a worthy basing for it. Lieutenant Thrane of the Second Company. (He’d be proxied as a Gravis Captain on tabletop obvs)

I had a vision.. (Gravis Leader WIP)

I’ve seen dozens of Raptor Tor Garadon conversions and figured it’d be great for a Gravis leader. Needless to say it was a success and I’ve begun painting. Here’s a little preview of the WIP. Can’t wait to have the three armor types in my army all represented with a leader.

Combi Lieutenant

Lieutenant Kael of the Raptors second company is finally finished. He’s not my best work but I’m very proud. Some of the varnish spray I used made it a lil warped in an area or two but overall it looks solid I think. Can never have too much blood (for the blood god)

Lieutenant Kael of the Second Company

Not my best work but I’d call it a job well done. Now that he’s complete I just need the Gravis leader I’m Kitbashing from Tor Garadon to make another lieutenant and have a Trio of light, medium, and heavy leaders.

I have a bunch more Sternguard to paint but if they end up a fraction as cool as their Sargent I’ll be very happy.
