Is All Stars made up of the best players usually?

watching the local all star infield drop throws that hit their glove, bobble ground balls (if they even get their glove down), throws from SS to 1B end up over the fence. look up the worst kids on the team they are all coach’s kids and are permanently planted in the infield. occasionally someone will make a good play and you look it up on GC and there’s a 50/50 chance they are either a random kid or on the coach’s travel team.

I would not care at all if they were honest. I’ve coached and it’s hard and hot and I’m not going to sit my kid on the bench or corner outfield all game every game all practice every practice. if they would just say “the 4 coach’s kids are in the infield, all other kids will sit the bench and rotate outfield” then we could decide if we care or not about “committing” to random mandatory practices that show up on the calendar the day before (scheduled around the coach’s travel team) so we can sit and watch mid tier LL players make errors.

or before making everyone commit just tell us the coaches name and which travel team he coaches and open up the GC stats. it would take 2 minutes in GC to see how this all star team is going to be coached.

instead we got a long drawn out email and meeting about how we‘re here to WIN and everyone will be in the BEST position to win. followed by the exact opposite.

at least it will be a short season.

Messenger on iOS started sending me a “…sent you a message” notification 30 seconds after the original notification

I’ll get a notification that my wife messaged me along with the details of the message in the notification in iOS. then 30 seconds later I get a second that just says ”wife’s name has sent you a message” which is for the exact same message.

I don’t have Facebook installed on my phone. I have every notification toggle turned off that I can find in messenger settings and don’t have any reminder notifications turned on.

how do I make this meaningless second notification stop

On a pop fly that is going to land on/near the 1st base foul line, what constitutes interference by the batter?

Would any contact at all with the defender going for the ball be interference? What if the ball lands *right next* to 1st base? Or what if the ball is coming down very very close to the batters box? On the foul side of the line vs the fair side of the line?

It takes 4 seconds under perfect conditions for a 9U pitch to travel from windup to catcher to second base. It takes a 9 year old less than 4 seconds to steal 2b.

I’ve complained about it before, and I do not have a solution (every team does it, we’ve won games this way too), but tactics that only work because 9 year olds are 9, and wont work 2 years from now, aren’t “baseball”.

A windup, 50mph pitch, 1 second transfer, 50mph throw to 2b is just shy of 4 seconds. A 40 year old base coach is watching the 9 year old pitcher for the exact moment for their runner to run the remaining 50 feet to 2b. Every 9 year old on the field today can run 50 feet in 4 seconds. If everything goes perfectly the throw will get to 2b after the runner, every single time.

Just watched a game with 23 steals between our team and the other team. Not one runner caught stealing. Both teams‘ pitchers did their best to hold runners but it doesnt matter because a 9 year old also can’t throw a laser to 1B on a pickoff move. Get on base, two pitches later the runner is at 3rd, wait for the inevitable passed ball, jog home. Just like real baseball….

Two batters swapped for an entire tournament

a sub-scorer scored an entire weekend of games with two of the players reversed in the batting order. if I go into each game and edit the plays to put the right batter in each play (every time I see John I change it to Tim and every time I see Tim I change it to John) will that work as expected, and update their own player stats as well?

(I know gamechanger stats dont matter, but they matter to this kid, and I’m fine editing if to fix it if needed)
