VM46 center field camera streamers, what zoom level are you using and what size field are you on?

I'm a fan of my town's Major League Baseball team. I'm looking for an app that will help me "score" games while I'm watching them (in the stands, or on TV, whatever).
I've downloaded and fiddled a little with GameChanger. I get the impression that it's designed for -- is most valuable to -- those who organize, play in, or follow amateur teams: youth baseball teams, school/HS/college teams, local or regional teams or leagues for adult (but not professional) players.
Not for minor league teams, not for major league teams.
I get that impression. But I could be flat-out wrong. What are your thoughts?
And BTW I have great respect for those who organize etc amateur teams and leagues. This does look like a great tool for them to use. For them, but maybe not for me.
Thanks!
Have gotten a ton of DMs about fixed camera solutions at facilities so wanted to show off a set of cameras up and running on six fields at BLD Manteca in California.
These are Axis Cameras and each field has a two-camera setup- behind the plate and center field. The team's connect with these cameras and then all footage is synced to their scoring data producing highlight clips and archived videos.
If you run a facility, tournament, or league, let me know if you want to learn more.
I have tried to live stream 4 games, and all of them have failed at some point during the game. I have 4 or 5 bars of 5G signal on my phone (Galaxy S25+), and it just ... stops. In today's game, I got a 53 minute video, a 20 minute video and a 28 minute video. It's so bad that I have to have someone who is at the game watching the live stream so we notice when it stops... It'd be awesome if GC would give a notice as to what happened rather than just stopping the stream. Any advice would be great!
Hi folks. I''m relatively new to streaming and I'm looking for some input from the community about an issue I've been having when I'm “streaming and recording” and my stream drops due to weak signal.
To get started, I grabbed an old Android smartphone I had in a drawer, purchased 90 days of MINT mobile, and ordered a metal backstop mount from Nexus (the O.G.). I've been streaming directly to GameChanger from inside the GameChanger app.
When I'm at one of my “home fields” things work really well… for example, I streamed last night at 1080p with no problems, and then pulled the video file off to my desktop afterwards. But a couple of times now, when on the road, I've had poor/spotty cell coverage at the field we're at, so I end up picking a lower streaming quality (like 480p), and even then my stream might disconnect and need to restart. When that happens, I’m still recording at 1080p on my phone (streaming and recording), but if I navigate to the files on my android (using a windows desktop or file browsing app on my phone like MyFiles), the video recordings that were made before disconnections are “hidden” files with “.pending” naming conventions, and therefore difficult to recover….
Is there a better solution? Does something like Mevo studio allow folks to “stream and record” and then, if they get disconnected due to weak signal, does the recording safely save in a way that's easier to access/recover after? And is there a (free) competitor to Mevo studio that the community might recommend as a good stepping-stone solution to someone who isn't swimming in the deep end yet with a dedicated camera(s) and travel router?
Thanks for any insights folks.
I keep modifying my setup. Originally I had my Starlink mini mounted on the small tripod (maybe 19” tall) but kids kept bumping into on the field and one kid almost sat on it, lol. So I got a taller tripod to raise the mini eye level so maybe people wouldn’t walk into it. Next I added back in the travel router. For some reason at last weekends tournament, the Mevo was having a little bit of a tough time connecting to the minis WiFi. While setting it up does add another two minutes, it does great improvement the WiFi and stable connections. Just sharing.
Hey all, I recently bought a Mevo camera to "more easily" stream games but want to make sure I am clear on a few things. I had problems last night and video failed and got no help from parents so need to be able to set and forget. Many of the FAQ's say we should connect to wifi, but that is almost never realistic at a baseball game.
So I see we make the hotspot, phone connects, and we can record. But, should I expect that I need to keep my phone very close to the camera otherwise it will fail or quality will just crash out?
I am basically wondering if the mevo is a waste of time and I'm better off with the phone. Adding the extra device feels more trouble than it's worth.
My daughter’s tournament softball team I run the cameras for. They were asking me if I could integrate pocket radar, smart coat into it and gave me admin rights so I could. I managed to get it where it showed pocket radar on my GameChanger app, but could never get it to actually communicate. Do you know if you have to be the scorekeeper?
Doing some research but a lot of posts are a few years old. Mevos seem to be most recommended but have also read of recent issues.
What’s your favorite camera for streaming? Just a simple iPhone? Something more intense?
Never had a known issue caused by overheating but I want to be proactive before I cause a dropped stream so wanted to see what others are doing. My setup:
- Mevo Start
- Slate AX Gl.inet router
- Starlink Mini
- Ankler C200 battery pack
- Cheap amazon clamshell case I originally bought from Amazon for rain protection in the fall: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0DF2M79H4/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aaxitk=7f207b3a4e50fe28740d9e36cc524d16&hsa_cr_id=0&qid=1779225870&sr=1-1-9e67e56a-6f64-441f-a281-df67fc737124&ref_=sbx_s_sparkle_sbtcd_asin_0_title&pd_rd_w=EmK3l&content-id=amzn1.sym.2fb72bc8-96ef-420d-b08f-c04b69f36507%3Aamzn1.sym.2fb72bc8-96ef-420d-b08f-c04b69f36507&pf_rd_p=2fb72bc8-96ef-420d-b08f-c04b69f36507&pf_rd_r=PNZMPT7VGKJ5YNYP2D6W&pd_rd_wg=MjX41&pd_rd_r=4bd5a224-fe74-4d6e-a7c8-5acfa5530302&th=1
- Small battery packs to use to charge phone/tablet and power small fan on the clamshell case
Questions:
I haven't decided if the case I have for the Mevo is good or bad for overheat protection. Pro: it's white. Cons: It prevents the camera itself from getting direct airflow. There is a small fan but I question how much air it actually pulls. Wanted to get a sense if this is helpful or hurtful for my setup.
What does everyone do for their other gear? I setup the mini on a tripod. Hang the bettery from the hook on it and use my backpack and Pelican cases to create a shady spot under the tripod. So far has worked okay but wondering if anyone has any better solutions. Wondering if the battery pack or router overheating is a legitimate concern. Less concerned about phones as everyone has phones at ball games without issue and I don't use them for any sensitive tasks as the Mevo connects directly to the router.

Have a router setup with phone tethered to it for data. Mevo connects to the router. Same phone runs the stream. It always ends up working but I keep getting stuck in a loop...Stream Via selection screen shows up, I choose Wifi, then the available networks show up and I click the routers network, nothing happens so I click the gear and choose connect, after a wait I'm back at the Stream Via selection screen.
Sometimes this repeats 3/4/5 times and then finally it will kick me to the Go Live interface. Struggled last game and just couldn't get to the Go Live so I switched to Cellular Stream and cut out the router all together, got to the Go Live right away.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

There should be timestamps in the “plays” tab.
Would help with determine the start time of game if it started early or later than scheduled.
Hello, everyone hoping someone can help with my issue. This past weekend, I streamed using my iPhone and throughout the whole broadcast it kept glitching and pausing the stream on it's own. I turned off streaming, closed out the app, everything I could think of but still had the same problem. Any ideas as to why? Has anyone experienced this?
By the end of a season I'm following 30-40 teams. Since GC has no way to filter or hide teams from previous seasons, the list gets massive. So I need to manually "leave team" when the season is over, for each team. Currently this involves clicking on each team, then clicking settings, then clicking "leave team". Rinse repeat. This takes forever. Surely there's a quicker way to do this?
First year game changer, but ~15 games under my belt, and this hasn’t come up yet.
Bases loaded, batter gets a single hit between 2nd and 3rd. Runner from second gets hit by batted ball, offensive interference called. Bases still loaded. Cool.
I went to score the play starting with the single, but the runner at third would score. After some unsuccessful attempts at getting the sequence right, I finally saw that I could put the runner at second out for interference first, and then score the at bat hit. Is the correct sequence for this?
Right now team icons are displayed in alphabetized order... That's a lot of scrolling to find your own kid's team if it's not at the top of the list. Would be nice to be able to customize the layout (similar to phone app icons) or mark a team as a "favorite" so it remains at the top of the list.
Anyone experienced video not uploading after hitting end upon game ending? Anyway to get the video or is it gone for good?
Never use GC except messaging parents and schedules.
Yesterday I used my iPhone to record the entire game, then cut the clips I wanted.
Am I able to upload the GC 2 recorded hour video to the GC app? Was in GC this morning and saw a spot that said Upload Full Event Video.
Or should I go to the GC app before the app and within the game select the Record Video red button? Thanks!
So I saw some photos of a magnetic mount for a CF camera and decided to reverse engineer it. You need to purchase the parts separately and assemble it your self. You will need some cap screws and a few washers. Here is the parts list I used:
Bracket ~ $10
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FB35KK78...
Magnets ~ $10
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072BHD97F...
Pole / Tipod Section ~ $23. There are several options, and I just settled in on this one. I am not sure you want to go much higher depending on the weight of the camera you are using. YMMV
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PRLN3DM...
You can get his done with a different parts selection than mine for sure, but this gives the general idea.
This is easy up and easy down. I would still add a Nite Ize Loopalbe gear tie between the base and the pole for extra strength/support. I do not have a Mevo core to compare weight, but he VM46 picture is probably as large as I would go. A Start or Avkans Go would probably be perfect. Please note I do not have any type of ball head the would be required for aiming.
This might make a nice mount down the baseline for cameras other than just CF. My only real problem with this is height. My belief is that taller is better for the over the shoulder shot. I like to see home plate, and get more of the mound. I also think that it helps mitigate the umpire's rear being front and center in the shot LOL.
This does not have near the strength or stability of the V1 stand solution. At the V2 limited height, a play going into the mount will certainly knock the camera down. V2 just physically closer to the field of play. (note the V1 V2 photos are a different fields with very different fence heights.)
I like it, glad I have it and I am sure it will come in handy. Will it be my go to CF mount - no. I am already walking all the way out there and either pull a wagon or just carry V1's stand, and stabilizers. Not much more hassle imho and I get motorized control. (see below) The extra height and stability it gives me is worth the trouble. YMMV
V1 updates (LAST PHOTO) - I did abandon the water jugs - they were not necessary. I also added a motorized pan/tilt head that makes this one trip with perfect results. I stole this from someone- sorry I forgot so I cannot give you credit. Worth the $$ imho.

Sorry for the long post. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Anyone gotten an Avkans Go to work with their iphone?
